Based on conversations with people from the region, from working with people who have worked in human rights in the region and from studies (which would be old now) there is no study showing that men have access to basic human rights, I'm sure there are loads who don't but there are countless reports that show girl children are aborted and abandoned far more than boy children are. Having worked with women from rural India, from my experience that is a MAJOR issue they express that they have little to no access to self determination, my experience of China is anecdotal from working with Chinese male doctors and not females themselves. The rest is from reading, so I suppose that CAN be skewed. So they look at main causes of death. Because of physiological and societal reasons men and women have different causes of death caused by different factors, more men die in war, more men (I think?) die by homicide, more men die of heart disease for example.
