Actually, there was another similar story here, where the 16 yr old boy tried to kill himself because the older teacher wanted to end their relationship. While you may be able to "get over it", but many may not. That is why there is an age of consent, to protect these kind of teenagers.

If there was rape and the rapist is let-off on a technicality or something like, criminal charges can be filed by the prosecutor (DA, I believe), they would know whats up and they will not proceed with the case. There is a difference between completely fabricating a lie and inconclusive evidence. I would like to think that our system can differentiate.

I believe a accused should be treated like he/she is telling the truth and the accused be treated as he MIGHT be guilty. ಠ_ಠ You do realize that once someone is accused, it is up to the accuser to find enough evidence to convict the accused.
