I don't know what's happening over there but here (GNU/Linux, Freetube v0.13.1) when I Ctrl+click on a video it opens in a new tab. Also when I uncheck those hide options two new tabs appear in sidebar which gives me popular and trending videos. I'm sorry I could not help you with this.

If it works for you then great, but I would not recommend Brave Browser. I shall do a topic on Browsers later. And while we are talking about Brave, we must utter the slogan when Eich was unjustly fired from Mozilla. Bring back Brenden Eich!

I am usually not a subscriber to any channel, but as an experiment I subscribed to three channels I regularly watch; and now the only videos I see in my home feed are videos from those three channels. I see no recommendations or random videos show up that I may posibly be interested in. Go to Settings > Distraction Free Settings and uncheck Hide Trending Videos and Hide Popular Videos.
