All vets within a practice share the on call and weekend rota within that practice (e.g. 4 vets in a practice, so you watch work 1 night in 4 on call). In terms of hours during the day, a vets is only open for a set number of hours e.g. 8-5 so you all work those hours, plus on call nights and weekends :) So there is no option for overtime, simply a salaried position It's probably about 60% female and 40% male in the UK based on my anecdotal experience…	/r/PussyPassDenied	05/03/19 11:44 PM
1	I’d love to see what feminists have to say about this Being a veterinarian is classified as a highly skilled job, so I'm not sure why that would be relevant in this case (because evidently the vets have all chosen a skilled field, thus not accounting for the pay difference). 0	I’d love to see what feminists have to say about this I'm a vet (and a woman) so you cant really say I picked the wrong profession...and in the UK pay stats that were released, female new grad vets earn approx 15% less than male new grads. As new grads there is no difference in experience or qualifications nor in having taken maternity leave, just in gender. There may be some variables I'm unaware of but I doubt they'd account for a 15% difference.
