I just asked because you said in the post "Some might say, ok let's be an asshole". You then stated that is not good because it creates attraction that doesn't last into sustainable relationships. I did not think you were saying to be an asshole. I just didn't understand why being an asshole creates short term attraction in specific reference to your particular analogy about sales people being nice. Where is your library?

This is very enlightening. You highlighted the difference with between genuine niceness and "sales person" niceness which is a great analogy. When sales people approach me with a smile on their faces ear to ear, I swerve away from them when I walk, much like how women avoid men that they do not find attractive. How do you escalate from zero interest to making your intentions clear? I get it that you gradually build up with the jokes and touches but would seem like a huge abrupt process unless a long timeframe is employed?
