And how’s that? People here rarely speak English enough to have a conversation. Imagine a girl or a guy approaches you speaking Spanish,and you only know a couple of words,how would you perceive their approach,especially when it’s obvious there is a language barrier ?

When I tried the direct approach a few times,I got turned down,ignored(once by some arrogant foreigner and her female friends).The one time I could have pulled it,the girl was with her family,which I didn’t notice until I started talking to her.Her family was just walking behind her.She seemed flattered but understandably,she was with her family and they were walking/leaving.

Well,my first ever approach here was in the vicinity of the mall.Conversation flowed really well,even though the girl and her friend BARELY spoke English,while I tried to speak to them a little bit in Turkish. Interestingly,before I started approaching here,I actually saw an African/Caribbean guy approaching a Turkish girl by himself in a grocery store in that mall.He got the digits. I went to an expat meet-up event over a week ago. It was dead as hell. I was the youngest there.Even the only Turkish people there were a group of three(two guys and one girl) who came together.They have this hive mentality here where being alone/doing things alone is looked at in a bad way.That why they move in two’s at least.
