"we want to be people. You are not born a man, you are turned into one." Oh my. The blank slate again. Evolutionary psychology disagrees.

Steven Pinker's "The Blank Slate" has a very good section on this issue. Great book. Sadly equity feminism is not the leading kind on academia and goverments today.

Possibly, it's quite a socialist country with lots of braindead regulations. Nevertheless, I think we'd be constrained by energy or resources rather than by lack of labor.

Well, in my country unemployment is reaching 20%, and being an engineer, doctor, etc is no guarantee of high wages, not anymore. There is no shortage of them.

and that therefore doubled their effective workforces, Either a society is labor-constrained (and then it is as you say, p.e. WWII), or it isn't (and then doubling the workforce just reduces the price -salary- of work) My case (West Europe): Just the (blue collar) job of my father was enough to feed me, my brother and my mother, and to own a house. That was normal. Today most young, educated couples have to work both to just scrape enough for them, and usually help from their parents is needed.

This comment is better than the article: http://www.the-spearhead.com/2009/12/21/patriarchy-works/#comment-16267

But language is a social tool, so you can't fix it if most people use words "wrong". Just look at the meaning of "liberal".

Not necessary. Have kids at 20ish, then go to University at later 20s/early 30s. So what?

As for the solution? ~shrugs~ I have no idea. Marry and have kids young, then start a career?

Just stop eating bread and you'll be better.

Yet, isn't this "pornification" but a consequence of the sexual liberation, abandonment of traditional prudish role values and all that?

The comment by "z", not the main article.

In Spain is legally defined as that only if the aggressor is a man. There has been a recent polemic involving a lesbian couple in which the abuser was regarded "equivalent to a man" in order to apply the law. (Lesbian groups agreed, feminists raged) I kid you not.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
