It just ensures uniformity between papers so that people who read them aren't bogged down with the personal idiosyncrasies of every author. I don't agree with enforced gender neutrality, but it's obviously a good thing to have a uniform style guideline, which is why literally every academic stream follows one of them (APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, IEEE, Legal, etc.)	/r/MensRights	31/03/17 06:05 PM
