I mean it greatly reduces your risk of passing it on. We had a community case recently where a man tested positive despite having 2 vaccine doses, but they were able to figure out that his viral load was low enough that he likely wasn’t able to infect others, and this proved accurate from testing his close contacts. This is similar to how someone with HIV cannot transmit the virus if their viral load is undetectable.

I actually like it, I was at a store the same day as a person who had covid, but because they were able to say “hey a person with covid was in this store at this time” I was able to be like “oh cool I’m not at risk”. It reduces the number of superfluous tests (very helpful as we all know how clunky that process can be!) and in the end the contact tracing was extensive enough and happened quick enough that we could confirm no community transmission and exit lockdown. I mean my city (approx 200k people) just had its first covid case in months, and we locked down for three days, in that time they traced all of the close contacts of the infected person and the contacts of the people who the individual infected. I appreciate people with this attitude. Where I work (I’m in QLD Australia) I’m not allowed to serve anyone who hasn’t checked in (using either paper or an app, with contact details in case a person with covid comes to the location and everyone needs to know to get tested) and/or isn’t wearing a mask. I mean this is in Australia though, and if both parents have parental responsibility, then they negotiate parental time independently. If they can’t reach an arrangement, this moves to negotiation and then family court, but if both parents have parental responsibility, parental time is usually left 50/50 unless there are factors (like a parent working away) that make that impractical. And if those factors exist then he probably isn’t able to have the kid full time anyway.
