I tried explaining that an influence from a girlfriend holds far more weight than advertisement to him, but he wasn't having any of it. His comparisons are egregious but can be explained through sheer ignorance of the case. One particular haunting fact was that when he was in the car, he messaged her of his fears but she edged him on.
