Whenever I catch my mind “drifting” and heading towards anxious thoughts and negative thoughts loops, I stop everything I’m doing and repeatedly say “I don’t care” out loud until another thought pops into my head and I carry on. As a bartender I see this shit all the time. I call it “finessing”. ALWAYS say no initially. This will tell you whether they’re interested in you vs a free drink (news flash… it’s usually the freebie). Whenever I start chatting to someone in a bar/club, I wait until at least 15mins of mutual interest is demonstrated, then I’ll offer to buy us 1 (one) round & go from there.
