That's the simplest way to explain it. I think part of the reason people laugh at it is because flapping to porn is very addictive and easy to do. Your brain will find away to justify fapping. It's hard to tell yourself No. The other thing is that it takes a while for the benefits to kick in. For me it takes 3-4 weeks for everything to fully kick in.

18 is the best time to be working on yourself. Go workout and improve at work maybe try and find a better paying job. Also a bit controversial but I recommend practicing /r/nofap ymmv but it helped me out more than I ever thought possible.
