It just isn't a case study, and presenting it as such is borderline clickbait.

Maybe the dude is just mad that he got baited into clicking on a title that suggests some sort of scientific merit. This is a loosely-structured anecdote at best, regardless if OP is right or not.

There are few incentives for straight, young women to live a modest lifestyle. Damned if you do, damned if you don't, you might as well embrace your privileges. It's easy to armchair judge if you've never been tempted like that.

One of the all-time high top posts used to be the entire subreddit dunking on a man's audacious tinder profile which was a not-so-subtle persiflage of single moms' OLD profiles. A bit awkward.

This is the answer. More selfishness and less accountability. Too easy to cancel plans without social pressure, and too many people take the low road and don’t treat others with respect. Counter point: if you’re a person who is respectful and reliable you win way more points in my book In my experience, many flakey people also have no sense of self-awareness and are equally exasperated about other flakey people. Also, pseudo-busy people who would never bindingly commit to anything in the first p…

It's not keeping the dream alive though. It's the quintessential gateway to the pills.

It's still pointless advice. It wouldn't cost anyone anything to just stop saying it.

For entirely different reasons, but yes

So what's the point of the advice then? It's setting up low SMV, usually young men for failure and insinuating that it's their fault. Recipe for disaster.

The SMV of a low SMV woman is still infinitely higher than a man in the same percentile (E.g.: your sister). You can't just "settle down" as a low SMV man. And if you give that advice, you're setting the man up for a big reality check.

As advice for low SMV men, "lower your standards" has to be the worst out there. And it's repeated all the time.

Well, that's what every women claims, isn't it? Then it's a game of chance if it's lip service, genuine, or if they really mean it but can't follow through on it on an emotional level. In my experience (yes, another anecdote), I noticed rapid behavioural shifts in even the most caring, motherly-type "empathy is my greatest strength" women. None of these women would ever recognise it (unlike OP's example) even after being called out. There's very little upside.

What's the whole jazz about emotional labour discrepancies if so many men stay emotionally closed to a certain degree (matches my experiences)? I would wager most women I know would describe empathy as one of their greatest strengths. Are they "labouring" on pseudo or proxy problems?

I'm not from the US but it's similar in Germany and even worse in some aspects because grades are rarely tied to standardised tests so the grades are tied much tighter to the teachers' assessments. Everyone I know has multiple anecdotes about hilarious blunders by teachers in this department, e.g. giving absent students (left school, year abroad, sick) As or Bs or grading the exact same outputs completely differently. The injustice made my skin crawl back in school and it still makes me furious …

p. 19 "I want to have sex often" 30 yo women agree second lowest in early relationships and then drop last behind 60 yo women in long relationships. "I was rarely in the mood for sex" 30 yo women agree the most both in short and long relationships In the dichotomised variable, they rank significantly lower than 45 yo women in every stage of relationships and just merely above 60 yo women in early years, and then drop behind them aswell for the lowest rank of any group.

How do you explain the generational differences in the Klusman study? Why are 30 yo womens' sexual motivations in 2006 lower than 45yo and even 60 yo in many aspects?

This comment pretty much waters down/contradicts the Klusman study. Sexual motivation in men stays very steadily, and even goes up in two of the three age groups over the duration of partnership time. In women, it's a steep drop in all three of the age groups.

My personal experiences match your assessment but I also know quite a few women who stay with and care for thouroughly depressed men. Some do it for years.

"In 2018, 39% of students said they were attracted to people of the same or multiple genders" I think I owe Netflix an apology. Is this a common trend in other countries? This number seems insanely high to me.

Many of the subjective reports in this threads massively undervalue the upsides. Just a random assembly of research findings: if you're attractive... - your own parents will give you more attention, even as a baby - your school and college grades will be substantially better for the same performance - you're perceived as more intelligent, hard-working, creative, empathic, trustworthy, etc. - you'll be hired faster, paid more, and promoted faster - judicially, you're less likely to be charged, an…

I think OP re-mixed a few life coach advices and missed the point that it's all about discipline and mindset. Besides, reading books won't really give you ammunition for conversations either because many people don't ever read.

And what unchosen biological attraction traits might that be in a world where men superficially look alike?

It's an abstract explorative question, of course I'm philosophising. I don't really get your level of aggression. What do you think would have happened if all human males looked equal?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/20 04:10 PM

Not really -- most of attraction is just subconscious biological processing, you don't just 'make up' what you're attracted to, it just kinda happens to you without your input. Yes, but there are plenty of examples of animals mating based on the most ridiculous courtships imaginable. I feel like your missing the point of the question. Would women "make up" some arbitrary new thing that's considered attractive if all men were suddenly replaced by Ryan Goslings right now with our evolution and soc…
