If you're not confident in your body no matter how you look, you can have the best body ever and you won't be able to see it. Take it from someone who lost 50 lbs, got to a normal BMI, and still hated my body. And no I did NOT meet better, or even more men when I was skinny, quite the opposite. For men who are hung up on slender women, even if you lose weight it will be a grind to stay slim enough. Bodies are not static. Best of luck in your weight loss journey but if you don't love or at least …

To be clear the OP of that post is a disgusting piece of trash, I just thought the comment of a woman defending him fit here too. Kinda expect men to be trash but we should at least be on our own side

Ok so back in the day I did this, not snap/insta but my number...once my roster was full, the app became really exhausting to have to deal with the barrage of messages. idk what they would need your snap/insta for though? I'd rather just text people. You might be assuming, you might not be. Who cares? You don't know this person. If you feel like you really like them, give them the benefit of the doubt, if not, block and move on.

The article is a joke, everyone. Some of you are reading McSweeney's for the first time and it shows. You've been missing out!

...McSweeney's is a joke/parody site, like the Onion or Reductress.

Yes, I am having the same issue with posts. Not sure what I am saying or doing to trigger immediate removal of my posts!

Believe it or not I was looking for pesto a while back and the employee didn't know what pesto was. This was at a big grocery store in a big city too.

If you are prepared to stay single, then no need to open your mind, just wait for the right one to come along. "Open your mind" is more for the people I hear saying, "ugh, I never meet anyone, there's NO ONE out there" but have an insanely long checklist. If you're willing to wait, fine, but the constant complaining for a choice you made can get a little old. God didn't make all men to be over 6 ft, there's only so many high paying jobs...if you require a lot of things (that have ZERO correlatio…

If your standard of HVM is never looks at or thinks about other women ever, then yeah, probably none exist. I think about other men. Attraction is normal. As long as your partner isn't going out of their way to interact with someone else they're attracted to, this is a non-issue for me. Are there really people out there of either sex who never ever think about other people when they're in a relationship? Sure as hell ain't me.

Yeah...I mean I def think about other men and I'm in a relationship. As long as my partner isn't going out of his way to look at/interact with other women, then how can I be upset about something I myself do?

I can't speak for the OP but for the ones I know, honestly just knowing them as family men. Obviously no one ever knows what goes on behind the scenes but the men I know always anticipate their partner's needs, take on their share of emotional/household labor, and support their partners through anything. I can only observe what I can observe but I have seen the opposite as well, men treating their female partners poorly, and there's only so much most men can hide.

This one right here. People are out here looking for Matthew McConaughey. Life is not like the movies and there are no rich handsome architects with all your preferred traits that share every value with you and every characteristic that you want. If that's all you can be attracted to, please open your mind a bit.

...ok, you’re in college. I didn’t use dating apps in college either (and yes they existed). In college you basically have to be a shut in not to meet men in real life. College is a bubble and doesn’t mirror the adult world in any way. When you’re a working adult, you’re not meeting new people every day in classes, clubs, parties, etc. Even if you have friends/hobbies you basically just have to cross your fingers that you’ll meet an unattached man that you actually AND that likes you back. In co…

No I know and I realized I've had a different upbringing and should have more sympathy. And I do get that sometimes you don't know what a person is like until they show their true selves. I get that and I am not criticizing them for getting in these relationships, it happens to most women at some point. But there's only so many complaints I can hear if you're not going to do anything about it.

I just feel like, once you identify the problem, there's only so many complaints I want to hear before you do something about it. A lot of men are jackasses and hide it well. But once you see it, get some sort of a game plan together. I know it can't happen overnight and it's not always easy, but sometimes I just want to shake them!

I mean I want a child but I'll get an actual sperm donor before I let some leech of a man father my children.

So happy for you! I am definitely not saying that men can't hide red flags and dupe women - they are experts at it and for some men it's their main goal in life. I wish that the women commenting on these posts would tell the moms that this shitty behavior isn't just something they need to put up with and give them the confidence to leave their husbands if they bring nothing of value to the marriage.

That's sad and I do forget that there are a lot of people in this world who tell young women and girls that their only value is what they can bring to a man and bear his kids. I got lucky with my free thinking parents. I know women who've worked with me on pretty prestigious stuff who had it drilled in from their parents that it didn't matter and their only goal needed to be marriage. Breaks my heart. I'm glad you're out of your marriage and raising your boys to be HVM.

I mean I get not knowing what kids are like until you have them, but like...how many do you need to have to realize your partner is a bad parent or that you hate being a parent? One I get, you really can't know until you do, but two? Three? Four? The actual complaints about kid stuff don't bother me that much, it's more the partner complaints.

So I have a hot take on this, based on some recent events in my life. I think birth control lets people take risks that they shouldn't. I know in my younger years I was happy to hook up because I knew I at least wouldn't get pregnant. And I don't think birth control is bad - I think it's an amazing invention that has improved women's lives and health overall. But I recently stopped taking it to deal with some underlying hormonal issues, and as I was browsing this thought occurred to me. Of cours…

Interesting question. I always wonder after reading dating books that encourage women to be the one to "change" a man...can you change a LVM into a HVM? Are some LVM able to change? Personally, I don't think so which is why I hate that rhetoric. I think you can tell by who people surround themselves with. My partner's male friends are mostly married or in serious relationships and all of them treat their female partners well. The LVM I've come across surround themselves with fuccbois and people …

So I think of OLD like thrifting. Some people really like thrifting (I am one of them) - you are going to be sorting through piles of crap and come away empty-handed sometimes, but if you enjoy the process and are open-minded about what you're looking for (obviously not anything gross/dirty/damaged) you could see a couple things you like, and maybe something you love. But it is a time consuming process and you will have to look at a lot of crap before you find something nice. A lot of people do …

That's why I don't get why in the book "Men Don't Love Women Like You" he says to use IG for dating? My IG is private and mostly pics of things I see and food. I'm supposed to create some other thotty IG and make it public, so that men who DM women on IG can ask me out? No thank you - I'm not looking for a man that DMs insta thots to ask them out. If he follows those kinds of women now, he would if we started dating. All that work for me to end up with a guy who looks for thotty women online. An…

You absolutely need to be careful on apps. The best month I had when I was single was when I was doing a whole 30 and went on all my dates stone cold sober. I put up with a LOT less BS that month.

Ok. I know a lot of people hate dating apps. I myself haven't been on them in like five years and new ones have cropped up since then and the ones that did exist have changed a lot from what I've heard. But personally - when I was single, I did not often meet men in person who asked me out. I did in college, and I did when I lived overseas, when I lived in a country where men were much more forward about approaching women. But in east-coast US? Did not happen. I had friends with male friends, di…
