Hey, that's great for you. Thanks for sharing that gold in your life.

These last few weeks have been pretty good for me. I finally saw a doctor about a change in my meds for depression and it has been a night and day difference. I can't recall ever feeling this unburdened.

Ah, I misunderstood.

What might help is acting out such an encounter. Get another person to stand in as the person you want to apologize to and actually apologize to person from your past. Tell this stand in everything you want to; that you've changed, that you're sorry for how you treated them in the past, etc. I know it sounds silly but it can be pretty cathartic if done sincerely. You don't have to have approval from the person from your past in order to be forgiven.

Can you visualize what forgiveness for your past would look like?

I keep trying to write some comment that can really help but I keep falling short. That's a tough spot you're in and I can't draw on any personal experience to help. You're bound to a relationship with this girl because of the pregnancy but that doesn't necessarily mean moving in together is the best decision; especially if you don't know if you want to be with her long term. How old are you two, BTW? And did you want her to keep or terminate the pregnancy? The real question you have to answer i…

A better title would have been... "Lied about not having kids. How fucked am I?"

It does not seem illogical to like all of them. Your interests are your interests. And there's nothing wrong with being equally interested in academics as you are in other activities. It sounds to me that you are trying to expand your life to things beyond a single interest and that's a good thing, I think. I wouldn't worry too much if someone thinks you're missing out on life because you're not doing X. If X is what drives their life then good for them but that has nothing to do with what drive…

I hope you find a wonderful day today as well. I wouldn't say you're wrong with not taking part in clubbing, FWBs, drinking, and all of that stuff if it just doesn't interest you. Although those are popular things, they aren't a prerequisite to enjoying yourself and enjoying your life. If they genuinely don't interest you then don't worry about them. That said though, are you doing anything to give your life experience? I don't agree that in order to live life you must do X, Y, and Z specificall…

In addition, you can check out the Man Kind Project for a local men's support group; either online or in person. The whole Man Kind Project can get rather involved including what they call "Warrior Weekends" but you don't have to do any of that if you don't want to. They host regular support meetings that I have found to be very helpful in many ways including friends, mentors, and encouragement. They are well organized, IMO, and are not AA/Religion based. https://ncal.mkpusa.org/mens-groups/

I've been on an antidepressant for years now but I am talking to my new therapist about reevaluating its effectiveness. With how strong my depression has been this year I really wonder if I need something else. Thanks for your words. I appreciate them.

Possibly triggering... . . . . This has been a very tough year for me so far, mentally. About 80% of it is typical for me and expected. Both being cooped up inside more and the lack of warm, sunny days really get me irritable with the people in my household. I start to focus on my "I just want to live alone" mentality and the downward spiral just continues. This happens every year beginning in Jan, peaking in Mar, and starting to ebb in April/May. The other 20%, though, has really scared me this…

If you're still looking for support via PM then send me a message. I can make some time to listen and hopefully be able to offer some observations for you.

It sounds like you are living an unfulfilled life and it's creating this turmoil for you. I struggled with similar concepts for most of my life starting as early as grade school. I felt like I was just getting through the days without really accomplishing anything meaningful. The lack of any “purpose” in my life really fed into a form of depression for me. Here is something I posted in response to a similar question a while ago. Working towards a goal/event/challenge is absolutely critical to my…

Sorry I can't help you with any information but I wanted to wish you some good luck regardless. I wouldn't wait for any recommendations here before making contact with attorneys in the area. I found these posts in r/wichita that might help. It doesn't look like there's much relevant info out there for you on Reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/wichita/comments/bzyldl/divorce_lawyers_in_wichita/

When the judge asked me to raise my right hand and take the oath, I raised a middle finger while saying "I do". Hate to bust your bubble but it's not official then. You still married. Seriously though, congratulations. I'm glad it's over for you and you can begin living again.

Even 1 happy & 1 miserable is better than 1 miserable home, IMO. At least the kids have a model of how things can be in their lives.

Do you think you can be a better dad if you stay married to your wife or if you live separately from your wife? I stayed in my first marriage for much longer than I should have because of feeling guilty towards our children. I thought the pain of living through a divorce would be greater than the pain of remaining the same. In hindsight I realized that was a mistake. By doing so, it only extended the misery of living a life that was not enjoyable. This extended into everyone's life because no on…

For expanding your social network, I always suggest looking at the various Meetup groups in the area. I've found it a great way to meet people who share at least one common interest. Have you looked for any men's groups around? I found a Mankind Project circle in my town and it's a pretty decent local resource. https://ncal.mkpusa.org/

If you stayed on the road you're on now, the one that's familiar, will you be happy and have a healthy life for the next 30-40 years? It doesn't sound like you would. It can be scary to look down an unfamiliar road because you just aren't sure what it holds for you. Child support shouldn't be much of an issue at all. Her going to college should not affect that but definitely consult a lawyer for all of this. Spousal support will vary based on many things but generally her earning potential will …
