yea honestly which sucks, we’ll never get anywhere if we can’t be impartial — feminism was my shit when i found out it was about breaking down the patriarchy aka breaking down stuff not just for women but for men also and thennn i found out everyone who calls themselves a feminist doesn’t even know what it means

i hadn’t seen this point but ahh i think i see the point of the fear gap, women over perceiving danger is a reality that makes sense — a defensive reaction — men under perceiving danger also makes sense due to macho culture, something that hurts them rather than helps them (a concept you’d think is fairly straightforward but is actually quite interesting to see laid out statistically)

i’d argue so

honestly a valid point — i think the reason why it gets shut down so quickly is because people argue that for men it’s about looks and for women personality — one’s considered shallow and the other isn’t (i find it a little stupid to generalize genders, we all have inbuilt beauty standards and some us are more shallow than others)

there is no way to know for sure the exact numbers that is precisely my entire point, it will always be underreported — the article ‘Reasons for and Experiences of Sexual Assault Nondisclosure in a Diverse Community Sample’ from the National Library of Medicine may help you understand the perspectives of SA victims and why this underreporting occurs one very straightforward example of women using defensive tactics to prevent incidents would be them going out in groups or with friends — something…

damn man umm a sociology class to work on analysis and the connection of analysis to data points might be helpful — analysis goes hand in hand in with data points might

none of it is conjecture or assumptions i am in fact referencing real data points and studies — in regards to the fear gap i’m questioning the relevance of the statistic in the first place, the statement — ‘a frequency of a certain kind of violence will always be met with defensive tactics’ is entirely logical and highlights the ludicrousness of what that statistic is attempting to convey — or well actually I would love to hear what exactly your point is in referencing the fear gap

how do i know? i don’t really know how to elaborate more, i’ve already explained that majority of SA is not reported for many reasons that I suppose I can reiterate? and then domestic violence is quite self-explanatory, and violence in general I mean I can reference studies but really is it not making sense that the culture of victim blaming and the fear of being looked down upon has made a handful of women afraid to report what has occured to them? and so for the fear gap are we talking about s…

so where is the statistic of the actual risks they face come from? per my argument wouldn’t that statistic be unreliable considering the prevalence of underreporting?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/26 07:33 PM

are you specifically asking in regards to studies? the shame, trauma, and culture around victim blaming still creates underreporting in anonymous self-report studies— and a lot of women get confused on terminology sometimes not even understanding they experienced SA

use logic and common sense here — the data is not reliable in the first place if it is not accurately recording what it is attempting to (aka incidences being massively underreported)

Statistics are great for that reason but we’re missing a lot of information in them. Not even close to every SA is reported and the same applies to violent encounters, especially within marriages/relationships. For that reason, personal experiences and listening to the women around you will be more relevant within this context. I’ve witnessed a lot, yet not a single one of those incidences have been reported because the victim never feels comfortable enough to or finds it worth it enough to foll…

I would highly disagree, the women in my life have not created their perceptions based off of the media. It has been through personal experiences, and although inappropriate or violent behavior is not frequent it occurs far more than it should. Not to say women can’t do the same, I’ve seen some horrible stuff on both ends but the frequency (anecdotally) has been much higher with men.

we have to be accurate to reality and context — are you aware that these incidents are massively underreported?

bit of a fallacy here i think, i think we are mistakenly implying all straight women are attracted to masculinity

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
