The difference is that pregnancy utilizes a woman's body. If it wasn't for the 9 month gestation period, it would be the same situation. That said, I agree that potential fathers should be able to opt out of parenthood within the same window a pregnant woman is allowed to get an abortion.

Correct, but if a director is obviously blacklisting someone due to an issue like this, the union could strongly discourage its members from working with that director. If a studio can't get any name actors to work with a director, the director's career would be shortlived. Not very feasible, maybe, but that is supposed to be the power of unions.
