He's fired after that.100 years ago, male doctors outnumbered female doctors by a huge factor. One could claim that it was interest, not ability; most women didn't want to be doctors. At the time, that was true. Few women wanted to be doctors because it was not socially acceptable. More than anything, us humans look to our social groups for validation.
