Jesus, these guys are obsessed with sex. It sometimes seems like every male seeking a relationship is actually in desperate need of sex. The men who can think independent of their penis usually have an attitude that is open for a relationship but aren't on social media all night looking for one. I've noticed they are much more easy going and never in a rush.

As direct and hard as this may sound to you OP, Yoursultana is absolutely 100% right! You may not see it right now because you're in the middle of this relationship but it's better to be brave now and face the pain of a break up than still being in it a few years from now and realizing you wasted them trying to see a better version in your BF than he actually is or ever will be. Choose you!

Most of all this is a great lesson into the male mind, as long as they don't show up on my doorstep or go into some sort of obsessive mode I will be fine;)

That's a whole new level of crazy, those could be the type of men that turn into stalkers if you give them only a little attention, even turning them down might be a trigger.

That would be something else... I doubt the people who know my contact details would do that, specially since my main contact is a woman, but you never know.

That’s on my bucket list. Just start doing it;) Start small if it's a big change in your life and don't be hard on yourself with goals, endurance sports can be a great feel good trip!

You are so spot on! And the feeling of being unseen by these men actually is a good thing, it's a great eye opener to become more aware of this dynamic. It also gives me a more empathic feel for women who post beautiful pictures of themselves on social media. I am sure all the praise and likes they get can actually make some feel a little lost in their love lives, something I never considered before.

she is open to being a prostitute. This is what it actually comes down to and some seem to think this is a normal way of dating. It's amazing how little they know about women because I find it hard to imagine this would ever work for them.

So many, if not most, of them do not see us as people, but blank slates to project on. Like coveted objects This covers the feeling very well, I've never felt so unseen before, it's almost as if these men are saying I don't care about you but I want your body. The compliments aren't 'real'.

I don't understand this action at all.. Why would someone do this at a wedding? This action is everything a wedding should not be. How does he think this will make her feel? Why do guests accept this form of behavior, where were his parents? His friends? Didn't they tell him he was making a complete fool of himself and hurting the bride? So many questions, and if I would have seen a spectacle like this I would feel sorry for the bride that it even came this far and fully support her to leave tha…

Why do so many men turn into these child-men once the relationship settles down? Is this a man his default setting or something lol... Well I am laughing but it's a problem, specially since you don't always notice early on. I've been dating men that were very independent, kept their own house spotless clean (maybe only when I visited those first few times...), serious about their careers etc. And after a few months living together they suddenly expect me to manage the house and manage him while …

Not a 'male - female' example but it may shine some light on male behavior: There is this bald English BBC journalist who visits all sort of dangerous places (I can't remember his name.) who suddenly gets a gun pointed to his head from someone wanting him to leave. Without an emotion in his face he calmly puts his hand to the side of the gun and slowly pushes it away saying: "We don't play these games now." You could see the confusion in the face of the man holding the gun and het backs of. But …

Dated a single dad, he seemed great. I started doubting things when he told me his kid was only 3yrs old and he left the mother because they learned they weren't a great match after all while they had relationship for 5 years before the kid came. The guy was charming, intelligent, funny, successful but when he asked me to meet his daughter after 5 dates I was out. Who does this to his kid? What if things don't work out between him and his date, will it break his daughters heart? If you can't pro…

it makes them feel powerful, dominant and strong It's really sad if they need to feel this way and watch porn to get there... It's a bit like dating as a way to feel powerful, their fucks as trophies.

That is really sad, glad you said 'just reminded me of an ex', seems like he is a distant memory. It's almost impossible to imagine what is going on in a person who gets aroused by someone else's pain... I really can't get my head around this, how is violet porn attractive and how can it somehow be an inspiration, what kind of men are these? Is it so easy to create a sadist?

There is a movie about wartime rape it's called: "As if I wasn't there", that probably is often true without war or even without rape..

Yeah on this issue I just don't think there's a solution. It's almost like giving a young boy heroin. It's not his fault and you can't expect him to abstain, given that heroin is everywhere, easily accessible, and free. It seems the same parts in the brain are stimulated with porn and cocaine (probably heroin too.) so that would be quite a rush to fight, human biology isn't made for a world with porn. And again, I think we fall into the trap of exhausting ourselves trying to solve men's issues…

I can imagine, specially when you say it like this:) Maybe I should have said the best restaurant he knew and the best movie he knew. (A movie with a theme that matched certain things we talked about.) I liked to experience that as a way to get a better sense of who he is. It's strange now you say it like that, -undressed the date to it's activities- it indeed doesn't sound too special, yet it was... But that was probably down to him instead of what we did, during the walk after I felt so 'known…

Some men don’t watch it, surprise, they’re still alive. Some days I tell myself this must be true, other days I lose all hope for that to be true... It sounds like you found one though:) That gives hope haha;)

Thank you. I have to think that if I make a big effort to raise a compassionate, socially-aware child who has been taught to think critically, that he would be decide on his own to be anti-porn. That would be the goal, it will indeed only work out if the motivation to stay away from it is their own. I too hope for daughters but I am aware that they might one day date men and then I hope their parents raised a man you describe;)

Great points, it shouldn't be the pink elephant in the room once parents know the kids are exposed to it, conversations might be the best tool to make the kids aware of the destructive powers that a porn addiction can have and how easy it seems to be to slip into one. I've heard porn often is a way to cope (or run away from) challenges or troubles in life, a bit like drugs actually, so maybe we should also give the conversations a wider scope once we notice kids start watching porn?

Awareness of what is actually happening is probably is a great first step, yes. Some parents find it hard to talk about this but it will absolutely be worth it. I guess making them aware of the potential addictiveness could also help.

I would find it a lot easier to relate to girls, but I am pretty sure I would love a son once he is there, and then my husband and I have a big part to play in making sure he becomes high value to girls... a challenge that I will have to accept if I get a son.

but from what I’ve learned, a guy knows what he wants immediately and wouldn’t waste the opportunity to ask to spend real time with me if he wanted to. Maybe I tell myself things can grow gradually based on getting to know each others characters and small behaviors but I fear you are right, my perspective probably isn't how most men see things, and in fact I too have that first impression that tells me right away if it's going to potentially work or not. (But my first impressions have also been …

Yes I've read the handbook about this and I sure wouldn't meet for a low effort date with a man I've never seen in person, like from Tinder, no alcohol 'a drink' dates either. I see the pitfalls of those, but when you get to know someone more gradually from the local coffee place for instance (pré covid I would be there several mornings a week,) meet some friends, meet some new people, have a drink with a potentially attractive man I don't know, join my friends again. Most of the times it isn't …

I am really learning things here today haha! We should call it as it is, some men probably don't really know what boundaries are and may even think it's a game. You could even see this in too many 80s and 90s movies when the girl would say "No" romantic music starts playing and 'she just needs to be pushed a little' and they make happy romantic love, while it's actually rape! We have been fighting a twisted culture for too long!

"I asked him if he wanted to become a rapist today." Although I really like that line and it's a powerful thing to say I am not sure if it's smart to anger a man at the moment he pinned you to the wall and his dick is doing the thinking. Glad it saved her and that he is a life lesson richer. Edit: Thinking about this I wonder if there is anything better to do in a situation like this, I wouldn't know what to do apart from fighting and that too might 'stimulate' him..

That is such a sad story... Diana should have known about FDS;) Although she entered a very surreal environment, would be hard to filter out all the things happening around Charles and herself to just see the relationship as it was. And Charles should have manned up and all three could have had happy love lives.

Would this be the same for European dating culture? I have the feeling that there is much more pre-dating going on here. I like a 10 minute coffee just to check if I feel like investing more time in a man, if not then it's fine, we both weren't invested yet and it's easy to walk away. If there is a click we can always go for the high effort dates, but then at least I know I am not wasting my whole evening or afternoon on a guy I didn't know and wasn't so much fun after all. Somethings I think this goes so deep in our culture: The way his girlfriend looks, the way his gf treats him in public, how she is following him, how his career is the center of a couples universe. I once heard a guy literally say how in love he was with his girlfriend because she perfectly fits his image....

Aren't men more visually stimulated anyway? I mean most women spend much more time on their looks than men. If he doesn't see you as a 10 for the full package then you better run. Just on looks I am no 10 either but once I am invested in a relationship I don't worry about this anymore, there should be more that makes the two of us want to see other than looks alone;)

This is an interesting one! Diana obviously being the woman to show the world as the 10. But if he loved Camilla all the time it also shows he was capable of loving without looks being priority? Porn is like drugs. It stimulates the same parts of the brain as cocaine does and has the same addictive features. A porn addict is a slave of that kick and will always want more and more extreme, stay away from those men! "I'd never ask someone to change for me." He probably can't even be himself with his life clouded by addiction...

I can very much see that being the case! How many men would actually do a good job being the caretaker of the house and kids? Many women will know what it's like when they first live together with a man who just left his parents house, it's like you have to tell them everything their mommy did for them is something they will have to do themselves now instead of us being replacement mommies as well:)

I read romance books and gushed over the sweet, loving, tender moments a couple would have before sex. I wanted that in my life too, as a young girl who never had a relationship or knew what love was. ^That part is what that wholesome award is for, might seem a bit strange otherwise;) I think you were right as a young girl! And yes too many men like the 'spit guy' out there, but there sure are exceptions, it's just a shame that we have to call those exceptions the exceptions... What I love about…

My best friend had her first baby two years ago, she wanted to be a young mom but loved her job. Her boyfriend was on his way to become one of the youngest judges in the country, his career and identity seemed one, but he admitted without the same joy she has in her work. So he quit to become a fulltime dad:) Even after two years a big part of their friends and family keep asking him when he's going back to work. Many of my friends are having young kids, the girls indeed seem more stable, less trouble and you notice it very early, maybe when they are around 8 months already. Not sure if the boys already have higher testosterone or something, but they sure have a higher self centered energy if that makes sense... The girls are a bit more social, small differences but obvious.

It's the worst feeling, you should never have to feel this in any relationship. I hope you find the strength to make things better for you. I obviously can't judge the whole picture so I will not just say 'walk away' but this should be a mayor red flag. Maybe he's willing to have a good look in the mirror if you share your feelings, that should be the least as a start.

It's nothing new, in some 80s / 90s James Bond movies the 'romantic scene' is closer to rape where the woman needs some 'persuasion' before the love making. At the time this hardly (if even) was noticed as disturbing. (I still remember the "No James, No James" While James goes on and the romantic music is playing...) I am not sure who the actor was (Connery or Moore) who said the main reason he quit was because of one of those scenes, he was disgusted by it but nobody on set or not even the crit…
