I'm 4 months in. I know this is a journey. I have more more than a year to go.

If that's what you've read out of this you've missed the point

Personally I can differentiate between "being nice" and "being mr nice". I guess I am saying don't be a walk over, but don't be a dick either. But I take your point. Maybe I could have worded the title better.

There are parts of your story quite similar to mine. For that reason I highly recommend putting MMSLP high on your list after NMMNG. (Edit: or re-read it if you have already been through it!)

There are plenty of comments in here you need to read and follow... All I can add is Jesus, this relationship sounds awful, but you're so lucky you're not in it neck deep yet. You can get out. So I would ask the question. Do you really want this? I mean, REALLY, because she's a complete bitch to you? She would need to be a goddamn 10/10 and really worth it to bother your ass turning this around. I'd sit long on hard on that question while reading the side bar. (FYI, you still need to read that s…

And thanks for the link, I read every word and I get it. I really do. I'm working on getting to that place.

Maybe I'm over thinking it. I'll not dismiss this option if she continues to be shit with money. I'm going to try going through my financial plan with her first to she if it instills some motivation first. If that doesn't work I may keep this in my back pocket to force her to deal with the issue

You do realize that while cardio will help with weight loss a little bit, true weight loss happens in the kitchen, right? It's impossible to cardio your way to weight loss if your calories in exceeds your calories expended. Indeed I do. I have improved my diet too, no crap food goes in anymore. I don't do keto, but follow Paleo. Wasn't strict Paleo considering the alcohol consumption, but it's better now that I'm back on the wagon. Have dropped 4/5lbs so far, and happy to do it slowly. Only need…

After your pointer and re-reading it seems I should be adding around 5lb regardless. Then dropping back on the following session if I couldn't properly complete the full AMRAP on the higher set. And rinse and repeat. Doesn't have to be 5 I guess, just more weight. Pushing to the upper weight might be what helps you break those barriers. I'll read it in more detail later when I get back from work

I misread the guide. I stopped adding weight due to the stall. Got it now. Thanks for the pointer.

Financial vision - yes. Is she aware of it - no. What you say makes sense though. I'm going to change that.

Up until recently, yes she just got bailed out. Earlier this year when it happened I was in semi Rambo MRP mode... She hits overdraft and I tell her she has a budget and she needs to make it work - if she can prove she can make it work we can assess the finance to see what sort of surplus we have etc. A few weeks later she has a meltdown about not being able to buy anything nice for herself blah blah. So I reviewed her budget and decided I was being a bit tight. Bailed her out and gave her a bud…

OYS #**2** Background Age: 40, wife 41 SAHM. 2 kids. Physical Health 5'6'' 160 lbs about 20% BF. I need to get a calipers and measure this BF properly Hit a couple of issues this week I had to work around. Injured my quad this week, which screwed up my squats, but deadlifts still seem ok. I can still run on it so to compensate I have introduced some short distance hill running to my routine while it mends. Then today I woke up with an injured muscle some place in my shoulder blade, pretty sure m…

Sometimes I wonder what is the point in askMRP, not because of the questions, but because of the replies. People sometimes need to ask stupid questions in order to progress. It's not always a quick fix that's been sought after, instead it's a kick up the butt. If they're fucking up after reading something they think they are applying, or not sure how to apply, then it often takes an outsider to point out something stupidly obvious about what they're doing wrong. People progress and interpret dif…

Yes I’m still making coffees for her. Because they are awesome and I like making coffee, but mainly because she tells me to. Maybe some day she’ll reward my beta ass with bad sex and I’ll mentally high five myself. Point noted though, cheers for the pep talk.

That point and opinion is fine and to an extent I agree with. I’m not going to get into a discussion on which “stand” I believe to be correct, or why, but in hindsight I 100% agree that I didn’t take one.

I’ve already had the conversation. It didn’t go to dissimilar to what you said. Just played it low key and diplomatically “kid has a lack of appreciation for pressies so can we lay off for a bit”. Job sorted.

You’re right. Reading the feedback I think I missed an opportunity to take a stance. Regardless of my opinion possibly backing her up in this instance would have been a more productive choice

I'm at the start of this journey so this post has really put things in perspective for me. I think going all out red pill rambo at the start can be forgiven. I'm close to your age and I found the transition makes it a much harder pill to swallow, so you have to go through some form of transition before you find your feet. I myself didn't quite go rambo red pill, but I developed a much shorter patience and started to bite at shit... until I got the exact same advice as you. STFU and kill your ego…

To follow up, acknowledging I played this incorrectly, and considering I’m trying to reset this imbalance, in this scenario what would you have done? Would you have just left the unended question? Or forced an answer? She gets annoyed quite quickly when I do this, so maybe in my scenario it would work? Or if its actually irrelevant then fine, I just continue to work on myself. Just want to make I’m not missing anything, even the little things, to revert the power balance

I agree. In the car back I was chuckling to myself thinking “my god she just alpha’d the shit out of me!”

Deliberately shitty. It’s a regular thing she does, pretends I’m being shitty with her and ignores. If she had answered with she didn’t hear me then fine, but I know her “ignore the question” face

This is a good point, I missed this angle. I was so self absorbed I only thought of how I’d find the courage to leave, never about her leaving. Might actually make things easier, although she is useful with the kids, but is proving to be an expensive nanny.

Thank you for this. I think a big mug of self respect is most definitely needed. My eyes are still being opened, and what I do next was a bit fuzzy. But now I’m starting to see the goals I want to hit
