It's also important that the justice system is fair and people are presumed innocent until proven guilty. If those things are in place, then there's nothing to worry about. You can definitely make an argument that the system isn't fair and there isn't a presumption of innocence. I won't argue those points. 0	if women are equal to men, or superior, why do they need alimony? I watched my grandmother go through a horribly abusive relationship with her husband. She was totally dependant on him, as was the normal for couples of their era. She couldn't leave because she literally had nothing. No skills, no money, no assets, no property.
