We don't need men, but they want to be mothered, so they usually become burdens.

From a woman's perspective, I've never had a guy offer to buy me a drink in a friendly way. It was always a prelude to a romantic entanglement. She likely knows she doesn't want that with you and feels it's unlikely you just want friendship. Honestly, I can't think of a single man who ever pursued me strictly for friendship.

My husband and I thought he would love being home, too. With childcare costs, it made financial sense for him to be the stay-at-home-parent and we did it for five years. Over that time, my husband became increasingly anxious and depressed because the biggest problem with staying at home is that it shrinks your world and limits your identity. He became just a dad and husband. He's not a naturally social person, so he didn't go to local libraries with kids like I did on my days off. He also didn't…

Watch Jon Bernthal's Real Ones Podcast. He's a great example of non-toxic masculinity. I hate that he let Shia come on and didn't actually question him about his domestic violence history, but he seems to otherwise show strength and tenderness and an all-around goodness.

I just read up on this. They were protesting the problematic speaker who wrote things like this about date rape.“If a man ignoring a woman’s verbal ‘no’ is committing date rape, then a woman who says ‘no’ with her verbal language but ‘yes’ with her body language is committing date fraud. And a woman who continues to be sexual even after she says ‘no’ is committing date lying,” wrote Farrell in the 1993 book.

No, I'm implying men should organize if they want to raise awareness.

I've never seen an organized protest against the draft or circs but I would support either one. I honeslt don't see men organizing for any social justice issues at all. Am I missing it?

You have your fellow man to thank for that. It's something my husband always resented as well. Now that he has daughters, he worries less about the feelings of the man in the room and more about the safety of the woman. Listen, women don't need to be indoctrinated with a fear of men. Many of us have been repeatedly preyed upon by predators who never seem to be the bad guy. Since the predators so their best to seem friendly and innocent, we have to prepare for any man to be a threat. I get so muc…

I think it's normal as a single person. Every interaction I had with an age-appropriate male before I met my husband was like this. You're biologically driven to find a mate. Your mind is just trying to accomplish this goal. You can evaluate women for their compatibility in a private way without making them feel uncomfortable. Have a conversation about interests and values. Get to know someone. That's totally normal. Start dating now, even just to learn how to take rejection with dignity.

Men should also choose bear.
/r/MensRights08/06/24 01:21 AM

This is literally listed as the state's first fatal bear attack. This is the opposite of proving your point since there are about 2,000 murders by humans in California and 95 percent of murders are committed by men.

For me, it's because my first sexual assault was age 6. The next age 11. The next was 13. Should I keep going? All different men. Why wouldn't I treat every man as a potential threat?

The worst thing a bear will do is kill me. The dignity of being some animal's meal is far greater than the potential endless torture one might endure at the hands of a man. Look up dozens of articles about men capturing and torturing women and even after death...what they do to our bodies. There is no dignity in that. Let me die.

Dads are super involved in child rearing and I see them at the schools picking up kids daily. No one would bat an eye just for you being male.

I left the movie feeling seen as a woman in how patriarchy harms women, but I immediately wondered what that same movie would look like if it explored how patriarchy harms men. I was listening to someone speak about male loneliness recently how women can openly seek affection from children without being accused of anything but because of our societal realities those same actions would be suspicious. This leaves men only getting community and affection and hugs etc from women in romantic relation…

You specifically said this is an issue with women who slept around, which tells me this is a sexism issue, not a jealousy issue. If you want to fix this, find female authors. Bell Hooks wrote a book called "All About Love" and that explores our issues with modern love and trauma. Women will almost always have a higher body count outside of religious communities because we can. Men are easy, which means a woman looking to have sex has her pick of one night stands. Men must do a lot more to get so…

"Men face more and worse violence than women, by a lot." - by who? Who is it committing the violence against men? That point aside: I didn't do anything about that particular sexual assault because we live in a world of victim blaming. You didn't mean to, but your comment "I'd question where on earth you're hanging out, and who with, because that is absolutely not normal" is victim blaming. You assume i invited assaults by associating with the wrong people. All I did is exist in a world with the…

She's clearly not capable of seeing nuance, or having compassion for others she sees as more powerful than her. The male equivalent of this woman is probably an angry incel rage-tweeting from his isolation den. Feminism has an image problem. I call myself a raging feminist because I'm determined to get rid of the patriarchal systems that harm my daughters and my son as well as my husband and myself, but feminism to me just means I think my children deserve the same opportunities regardless of th…

Complaint to who? He was my manager. I was 15 and didn't understand the corporate hierarchy, and I trusted the adult in the room to be the leader. I gaslit myself into thinking it was not as bad as it felt because a leader was doing it. It's funny that you say you've never seen anything a tenth that bad happen. If you spoke to the women in your life about it, you'd find that story relatively tame and harmless. We all have stories of men using sexual violence against us in various ways starting b…

I worked at McDonalds as my first job. I made a dumb joke once. My male manager wrapped his arms around me from behind, pulled me against him, bit my neck like a dog in heat, and whispered "you are so bad" before releasing me. I stood there, shocked, waiting for someone else to react. Nobody did. He was the adult manager. We were all teenagers. We sort of expected him to set the tone for normal behavior, I guess. I was 15. Just saying, it's not so great being the girl working with all the older …

The man pursued a relationship with a professional surfer who's life includes wearing swimsuits, surfing with men, modeling, posting about her surfs on socials for visibility and being accessible to the public and then he tried to get her to change all of that once she got into a relationship with him. Boundary setting would be not dating someone doing those things. It is not dating them and then trying to coerce them to change. He's using therapy lingo to exert control over a woman the way inse…

I'm a woman and I think most of this list is staggeringly cynical, but I do agree with the no SAHM thing. I find that women who share the financial burden end up with more equitable relationships because they naturally avoid attracting traditional male types who think earning a paycheck should be the end of a man's contribution in the home. When women work just as much as their husbands, there's less tolerance for men who want to feign ignorance regarding child rearing and cooking/cleaning etc. …

As a woman, I can tell you that I've met some men who do not fit the "he's attractive and I want him to want me" category and then found myself kinda blown away by my sudden attraction to him after a few conversations where he made me laugh or showed an effortless, confidence. For instance, Lewis Capaldi. Look at a picture and he isn't classically handsome. Watch an interview with him and you'll find yourself wondering if he's single. The key is humor and having a commanding presence.

People who are jerks will find any reason to be hateful, but the feminism isn't the thing making them jerks. Men often name call and telling others to kill themselves online. That doesn't mean they hate other men. In female positive spaces, women share wisdom about their hair, makeup etc and it's a beautiful thing. The only time I bristle is when the high maintenence looking girly with hair and makeup etc somehow asserts "I'd never be caught dead without my lashes" or some other nonsense that in…

I actually think they weren't brutal enough. I was hoping the horror of an unmedicated cesarean should be shown because the first chainsaw was invented to cut through women during this surgery. This really happened to people. I'm a labor and delivery nurse and they should have shown how you have to cut the abdominal muscles and then rip them apart by violently tugging them open to get to the uterus. A cesarean cuts through six different tissue layers. It is one of the most extensive surgeries an…

My husband loves gaming. We've created a nook for this purpose in our home, he spends all kinds of money on it and he even got a tablet set up so he can game while sitting next to me while I read on the couch while the kids are running around so I'm not alone with them. I earn three times more than him and I do not expect him to be ambitious about anything other than continually improving our relationships. That looks like self-reflection and reading about trauma responses and parenting. It look…

As a labor and delivery nurse, I loathe the practice because I've been forced to be there and see how awful it is. I now refuse to partake and luckily they're rare here in California in the hospital setting. My son is uncut and can decide what to do with his own penis when he is older. When parents ask if we provide them I tell them "since they're not medically indicated and it's just a cultural choice, most insurance doesn't cover it so the docs here don't do them anymore." Most of the time, I'…

The simple fact is that 75 percent of violent crime is committed by men. If you are frequently in the company of a threat with those statistics it gets your guard up. You may also note that many women with a fear of men are victims of sexual assault. Hard to convince someone they're safe around men when they learned far too early in life that even the nicest men can be monsters. I feel badly for men who don't have violent tendencies and get judged as such by society, but not nearly as bad as I f…

Men literally walk around shirtless all the time in the summer at beaches, concerts, festivals etc...and there isn't an epidemic of stranger rape of men at these places...that's because it isn't about what a person wears. The only thing that stops a rapist from attempting a rape is the rapist. You can walk around naked twerking in front of me all day and I will 100% not rape you because I'm not a rapist. It has nothing to do with your appearance. As a feminist, I'm disappointed that I needed to …

I was approached at the grocery store last month and I actually texted my husband that I felt sad I was married for a second because the guy was so earnest and sweet about it that his bravery deserved a date. I had hoped my husband would arrange a sitter and take me on a date that I didnt have to plan for once but he is just getting me a gift and told me as much because finding a sitter is difficult right now until our youngest is old enough for drop in daycare. I'm disappointed but I'm choosing to appreciate him for what he is doing rather than focusing on what he isnt doing. Otherwise known as marriage.

When I got serious with my husband I got rid of my male friends for this reason. Confiding in another man emotionally can lead to feelings and I did not want my husband to feel like he was competing with these other guys, especially since most of my male friends I had dated prior to meeting my husband.

I'm a girl who reads this sub a lot and my husband introduced me to it. It helps me see the male perspective and I appreciate it, but I don't know why this ad has upset so many of you. My husband said the only men who would find fault in the ad are those who behave the way the ad displays. I tend to agree. The ad was just asking the good guys to call out the bad behavior.
