lol why would I not talk about something that matters with one of best friends?

That's one of the things we talk about, yes.

I thought this when I was first starting out in college. Hung out with the some of the smoothest dudes I've ever met; one of which I'm living with now. I still have no idea what I'm doing when I try to flirt with women.

This should be up there with the other first read inner game stuff folks should read when they first find seddit

I read the title and came here hoping to see something like this but expecting not to. Glad to see a bit of honesty and skepticism back on the sub

I'm completely terrified on some of the challenges that people have suggested. But I guess that's a good thing? It's a easy way to get out there and at least have some semblance of progress. If this picks up, I'd suggest something tiered. Like, the two shoes thing seems to be a good idea, but if I'm not in the right state, I'd completely shut down. But, it may be good for someone that's got a handle on forcing themselves to stay in state. Something for beginners, something for intermediates, and…

I like this exchange (assuming that you're still playing devils advocate). I, and I'll beg a few others here, have had these exact thoughts after seeing something beautiful like this video. This time, I'm gunna call up my friends and have a good time tonight.

Everyone's given good advice, but there's one thing that I wanted to add. I, like you, and I assume a shit load of other people here, have pussed out on more potential interactions than I would ever admit to in public. But one thing that has helped me to approach more often is to go in with the idea that I'm going to crash and burn. Now, I know this is the exact opposite of what everyone says and if you're doing it out of habit then yes, it's fucking terrible. It's toxic. And it's generally a fu…

When I first moved back home I noticed that a lot of my old friends were talking about things I had no clue about and couldn't figure out why. Then I noticed some of the subs they were subscribed to. A lot more than memes and rage comics.... OP, take the time to listen to some of the some of the convos around you and see if there are subs to can get on.

I am by no means an expert. I'm actually pretty terrible with people in general, but having read this whole post, one thing seems apparent; you're not ready to make the change you say you want to. You've gotten some pretty solid advice that addressees your problem. You seem to be set in the thought that your only problem is that you don't know what to say. Even if that is the case, you're refusing to listen to time honored methods on how to overcome it. You have to walk before you sprint, dude. …

Instead of ignoring him, you could just pull him aside and talk to him; you know, like an adult.... It sounds like either a) he's an asshole or b) he's drinking to come out of his shell and taking too far without realizing it. I'll assume it the latter since you've said he's cool in other situations. Sit him down and tell him what he's doing is killing the vibe with the chicks you guys meet. You may have to be careful with this. If you want to be considerate of his feelings, you may want to just…

I think you already have an idea of what you want to do and how you should changing yourself. A few months ago, I decided that I needed to make a change and commit to it. I started going out on my own to places Id read we're good to meet people. After a few weeks without any real progress, I realized what my issue was. Yes, I was out of the house; yes, I was picking up new hobbies; but I wasn't meeting new people because I was still, very much, in my shell. The entire time I was out Id be thinki…

This is probably the most useful comment in the whole thread. OP, if you get this far in the comments, know that "feel good" advice is way more plentiful in this sub than anything else. It's more often than not that the shit you don't want to hear, and already know, is what will help you in the long run.

u/Bonerjamsfap has the right idea. You sound a lot like me. There's only 3 people that I'm ever truly comfortable around, and a complete stranger to everyone else. And those are the guys I hang out with most of the time. When we were in school, we used to sit around, drink, and have really deep and personal conversations. It was really awkward at first. I was a loner in high school, so opening up like that really creeped me out. I've realized that that's how true friends are made though. You've …

I don't think this means ALL nerdy males, just the ones that shit themselves off from having actual experiences just so they can play games. More specifically, the ones whose primary sense of validation comes from completing that next dungeon. The guy that says "No, I can't run a mile, lift my body weight, or have a conversation with an attractive woman.... But I can drop 250k DPS like a mofo.... Bitch...." Not all nerds, just the special ones.

Fuck that. The problem is that he's hanging out with assholes, assuming that their not just giving you shit because their jokes are funny. Real friends would at least have the decency to not bring it again if they knew it was something you weren't really comfortable discussing. But then again, I haven't been 18 for a while.

That's what flasks and camelbacks were made for!!! Aaawwwww yiiiiissssss.... But seriously, I like to drink. A lot. Definitely a possibility that I am/will be an alcoholic, but I honestly don't have a frame of reference so w/e. I've noticed that no matter how drunk I am, I never really lose control like most other people. The only thing that changes really, is that my mind starts to make more interesting connections. By that I mean, the shit that I say is far more interesting. Even to sober peop…

I get where you're coming from, but this is terrible advice. It's like putting an ass naked HB10 in front of someone, holding their eyelids open, and then telling them not to look at her. This is clearly something that this dude thinks about often; given the context of the post, I'm going to assume that this has been a concern for an extended period. And once you've thought about and considered something for that long, you can't really help but think about. Like a lot of the stuff on seddit, it'…

I used to be the same way, still am around complete strangers. But if we're having a conversation, and something funny happens/is said, I bust out laughing. At the most inappropriate things too. you fart, I'm laughing. You trip, I'm laughing. You get tongue tied, I'm repeating your sentence, then laughing. I've realized over the years that the only way I can deal with my self conscientiousness is to laugh at myself. It's makes me a lot more comfortable. Idk, or really care if other people think …

No, that's me. I enjoy hearing opinions on what people think about what's going on in the world. Especially where they think the root of a problem is or a practical solution to human rights issues. Usually this only comes up with the lawyer-folk I hang out with

So what if you're interested mostly in those things you're not supposed to talk about, like politics and religion?

But what of your "true" self is needlessly insulting, foul mouthed, seemingly uneducated, and too quite for his own good? How can you be comfortable doing all those things, knowing how off putting it is?

I'm also interested in an FR. Your arguments sound well thought out and my present, your past, situations sound very similar; but seeing as how it's only been a week for you, I'm really interested in knowing how effective it's been. Objectively, 7 days isn't long enough for determining valid results of the switch. Is this change something that you have to constantly remind yourself to do, or have you already internalized it? I ask because you make a point of stating that you're an introvert and …

I'm curious, have you noticed similar changes in your interactions with your friends/other males as well? I would assume so, as most of the inner game advice here can be applied to all interactions, but I'd like to know if you've found yourself just making more friends in general. Or have you just been focusing on the ladies?

As someone who is trying to improve his conversation skills, I would have loved to see some serious discussion on some of the points OP made. I try to take all the advise here with a grain of salt, and most I this seems to be pretty solid, but I'd still like to see some reactions from the more experienced members of the community. Is quite upsetting that most of these comments are bashing this dude for his grammar, which apparently my phone was able to correct on the fly....

See, I can't co-sign on this. If everyone around you thinks you're creepy, then you're creepy. It's not a matter of not giving a fuck, it's a statement that's entirely dependent on how others perceive your actions. "You" not caring just makes it more creepy, and Im pretty sure that would work against what you're trying to convey, no?

Is it just me or isn't this considered creepy? Whenever i try this i always get the skin crawly creepy feels from all parties involved
