As a software engineering manager I have the same expectation on every one of my staff members regardless of gender. With the only differenciator being experience.

All I can really tell you is that it's never too late. I've met countless people with the same mindset in male obesity schemes, or men that have been in prison and there are so many wonderful stories about how things change. Step 1 is really accepting your situation, both the good and the bad. Step 2 is talking to someone and making a plan. Step 3 is to, one day at a time, change one tiny thing. Each day will compound and before long you'll feel the difference. Best of luck to you pal, don't bec…

I have two children and I don't want any more. If I'm being honest I'm too scared to get a vasectomy because of the rare side affects. Not to mention all of the pain etc, when contraception can fill that gap, I think surgery is pretty extreme.

You shouldn't better yourself for others, but yourself. You sound like a bit of a doomsayer, I'd really encourage you to give some thought to the space you seem to be going down mentally. Look after yourself mate, we get one life.

Why will it? It takes two people to ensure safe sex. It will surely give the male in this scenario more opportunity to ensure for themselves that they won't get anybody pregnant.

I was talking about domestic violence between the parents, not fathers with children, though isn't that another reason that they assess the mother so closely? They asked my partner a long list of questions about their mental health. Postpartum depression is very common in women, but on that note men can get it as well so they should be included in the questioning too. As I say, my experience was thankfully a good one where they asked me how I was feeling etc as well.

I'm disappointed to hear all of these points. I somewhat recently had our second child and the health visitors and midwives were great. All asked me lots of questions and also checked I was ok. The thing is, giving birth is really hard on a woman's body, and often women breastfeed which means that there are a number of questions that should be directed to them. I also completely agree with the idea that they ask the mother if she and the baby are safe. That's not an indictment of you, but rather…

Isn't it just a stupid term to say "that put me off them"? Like I went on a date once, she was really nice but she swore excessively and that put me off. I wouldn't use the word "ick" but that's a reasonable representation of it I think.

No, but not because they're a male, but because I don't really trust random people to look after my kids, women included. Fortunate enough to have two sets of loving grandparents who can help out though.

I hate things like this so much. The biggest single clarification of privilege is wealth and has little to do with skin colour or gender in today's society. This graph shows that white cisgendered men are the most privileged, but there are many statistics that would suggest adding "working class" to that group of characteristics instead puts them right at the bottom of the pile. Sweeping identity politics is not helpful for anyone.

You need to be able to love yourself first, before you think of others. If you're happiness is determined by the behaviour of random people, that's not a good place to be.

Individuals can and should be as picky as they want to. Surely you want somebody that wants you too, not somebody that wants someone else? Perhaps I'm a little older than you but I don't really see the shame in the real world, it's all online nonsense. I think you should reflect and look inwards on how you can feel more confident in your own skin or better yourself. Forget about everyone else or having sex for now.

We're just just talking about a child, we're talking about people's health and wellbeing. This isn't black and white. Abstinence doesn't work and that's proven. What you're talking in is absolutes that just does not reflect reality.

What a boring way to live, you're archaic mate
/r/MensRights10/04/24 06:36 AM

Contraception isn't 100% effective. If you seriously think abstinence or forced pregnancy is the way to go then I think you're out of your mind.
/r/MensRights10/04/24 06:29 AM

OP sounds very selfish. You should also note the toll that pregnancy can take on a woman's body. The two things definitely aren't equivalent.

If you have sex without one, you run the risk. OP will blame her but he was stupid enough to not use protection.

You're taking a select group of men and saying that because they're doing well, none of the others matter. Do you not see how crazy 2/46 is. That's less than 5%. Men outperform women in less than 5% of subjects. How can that not be something you think at least warrants looking into.
/r/MensRights22/08/23 07:49 PM
25

What you've said here doesn't make much sense to me. Men choosing and doing well in STEM has nothing to do with all of the other subjects. If OPs stats are to be believed, men doing well in STEM shouldn't mean that we accept men being behind in 44/46 subjects. My issue with this isn't necessarily the metrics but as a man in STEM, I see significant opportunities for women exclusively and have witnessed bias towards hiring women based on nothing but their gender. The pay gap is another thing I tak…

I don't know if many of you have seen the video but regardless if he's innocent of this or not, he's a terrible human being. At best he aggressively threatened to rape her, at worst he did. I'm all for supporting those that are falsely accused but this guy has asked for this kind of negative attention. The charges being dropped do not prove innocence.

That's hardly what I'm doing. This post refers to "big bitches" which isn't an adult thing at all. The reactions to this post just show how this sub has become about hating on women and not actually about men's rights at all.

You sound like an upset child. Point is, I had this happen to me once and I don't find it acceptable in the slightest. Just show some tact, that's all I'm saying.
/r/MensRights20/08/19 05:29 AM

Yes, but why ask questions you know are going to upset someone if that's not your intention..
/r/MensRights20/08/19 05:28 AM

In this context I think it is. You can certainly get the same information in a nicer way. Asking their body shape etc.
/r/MensRights19/08/19 10:18 PM

No, I'm just saying you don't need to be rude about it.
/r/MensRights19/08/19 10:08 PM

Then don't swipe right or ask if she's got any full body pictures. There's no need to be rude about it.
/r/MensRights19/08/19 10:07 PM
-18

I'm pretty sure a full body picture will show you that... Theres no need to be rude. It's not an offensive question. It's similar to asking someones age.
/r/MensRights19/08/19 09:21 PM
-23

I think this is one of those things that causes a lot of debate but ultimately, it's okay for a girl, particularly one who's quite tall, to want to date somebody taller. Weight you can normally tell from a picture, height is much more difficult. You responded to this to be rude to a question I find acceptable.

One of the issues in my opinion is that people rush into marriage at increasingly younger ages. If you've not lived with somebody, you shouldn't get married. Ive always desired a prenup but after many failed relationships, I've found somebody that I trust enough not to want one.
/r/MensRights20/07/19 08:56 AM

Or just get a prenuptial agreement with your partner.

Thus has nothing to do with my rights as a man

I wouldn't say this is attack on men particularly.
/r/MensRights12/06/19 08:32 PM

Not sure what this has to do with men's rights but it's ridiculous really. You can't rewrite history...
/r/MensRights12/06/19 07:07 PM

I guess there's a difference between something saying they'd do it and another saying they'd done it. I can say I'll kill somebody. It doesn't make me instantly guilty if they were to die.
/r/MensRights31/05/19 11:39 AM

If it's a false accusation and is evidently a lie, that is a crime. If you can't prove their lying but there's not enough evidence for a conviction, there's little you can do.
/r/MensRights30/05/19 10:07 PM

I'll be honest with you, a dowry is completely different. If somebody is marrying you for your money and you accept that, it's on you. Get a prenup next time.

I wish the women I often talk to would at least try and understand this.

I think ultimately we all agree that everybody regardless of gender deserves the same mentoring and help in a work place. They really should have gone into more detail on why these statistics are in this way. This is a statistic that isn't healthy for men or women.
/r/MensRights18/05/19 01:55 PM

If 95 percent of women die at the hands of their partner, how can we really defend that? I do see what you're saying but I also see many people taking too much of an extremist view which I don't think helps either. It's ultimately about equality.
/r/MensRights10/05/19 07:01 AM

I agree, they shouldnt be, its not against the law. It still makes them bad people.

It's a swastika. It was used as a symbol of the nazi party who murdered millions of people. It is not ok.

I'm 27. I'm not opposed to free speech in any way shape or form. I dont think they should be banned, I didnt say that but I do think that they're not ok. It's a terrible example and something that should not be acceptable because of what it stands for. I'm not for blocking it, just displaying one shows what kind of person you really are.
/r/MensRights08/05/19 01:10 PM

I never said ban it and I'm completely for freedom of speech. It's just seriously inappropriate. You're genuinely defending a swastika. Seriously now.
/r/MensRights08/05/19 06:49 AM

That's what I meant, it's a political item but it would be better not linked to an individual party, else you only have the buy in of some voters.

Umm. A swastika really isn't ok..

Gender equality should be, yes. You're ignoring everything else I've said.
/r/MensRights08/05/19 12:16 AM

What I'm saying is that it's comments like this that belittle the whole agenda. There's a time and a place to push it but tying it to a political following is simply going to give it a bad reputation.
/r/MensRights08/05/19 12:07 AM

Firstly, politics is a completely separate thing to men's rights. Secondly, comparing a maga hat to an "I hate men" t shirt is just bizarre. It was completely out of context and was unnecessary. Finally, they're obviously winding you up. Chill out about it.
/r/MensRights07/05/19 11:59 PM

We have to always take the stance of "innocent until proven guilty". So many times we see an accusation ruin somebodies career or get them kicked out of university but this really isn't good enough. It's very very difficult to prove and that's a big issue but it shouldn't prevent the justice system being what it should.

Not sure this is a men's rights thing. Just a bad mother and a drug addict. Other way round I wouldn't want somebody who takes drugs around my child. That being said, how proud she seems to have stopped the dad seeing the child is saddening.
/r/MensRights23/01/19 03:47 PM

If they showed it to all students, not just male, I guess there's no harm in alerting people to what's going wrong around them. As long as the same standards apply across both genders, you can't ignore what may be an issue I don't think.
/r/MensRights22/01/19 07:16 PM

You've got to have a lot of respect for an individual that has the strength to stand up to somebody so much bigger than them, regardless of gender. I respect how she handled the situation. I just think this guy is clearly an idiot.
/r/MensRights22/01/19 08:03 AM

Couldn't agree more. The offender crossed a line here. Men have a right to not face escalated sentences, not too be able to get away with it.
/r/MensRights22/01/19 07:57 AM

I think often we can solve man by of lives problems with communication. I don't think this fits for every case. Your sister is clearly a strong woman. I would agree with you 100 percent of the time but I feel in this case he does cross a line. If he'd approached her in a different manner, my opinion might be different. If somebody attempted to undo my sister's dress I sure wouldn't be happy about it.
/r/MensRights22/01/19 07:53 AM

Regardless of type. She should serve an absolute minimum of what he did in this case. Any less is an injustice.
