Most large cities will have at least 1 amateur rugby club, my metro area has three. As you said you're on the road back from some health issue, so a contact sport may be out of the picture. However, if you can run for extended periods of time, aren't afraid of some contact, and are willing to set aside a few evenings a week; you'll meet some of the highest quality gents there are.
