That is by definition true. But not the sole reason. From my experience and social circles, a creep is someone who doesn't understand and/or doesn't care about signals that their attention is unwanted. Granted, this can in some situations be signals that are hard to read, which can make the label unfair. But I think it has a lot to do with experiences: after meeting a number of creeps in a lifetime you're likely to be quicker with the labeling.

If that would happen, I think you'd automatically assume that the celebrity did it because of a feeling of entitlement more than "not knowing what's ok in social situations" (as the example above). Thus, a celebrity is more likely to be described as a douchebag than a creep. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry if this is naive, and I realize I know nothing about your situation -- but can't you just tell her that you need some space for yourself to be happy? Everyone involved would benefit from you not being pissed over something so relatively easy to fix.

There's plenty of them, a quick google gives this on the first page: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. If you were being sarcastic, please excuse me - I've spent my day in an amusement park where my brain was thrown back and forth while spinning around. A bit mushy here. Anyway, I'm more puzzled by this t-shirt for toddlers. Am I totally destroyed by the internet here? Who would put that on their kid???

I don't think there is a huge problem with an organization opposing woman abuse, as long as there is a equivalent organization for men. If there are any, they aren't very well-known, and more importantly: they don't get the same kind of media coverage. However, it's not a zero sum game, and opposing one sort of abuse of course isn't equal to be in favour of another. What's irks me the most on this subject is how spousal abuse is covered in popular media. This here being a perfect example. That k…

The whole comment seems to be some kind of double-posting experiment - see the original comment here (with genders switched). Note that it's two different users, however.

I think that the MRM is getting caught in the same trap as feminism: being blamed for having a focus. There is nothing wrong with that, and no one blames AIDS research for neglecting cancer research - so why should this be any different? People are more likely to subscribe to what is closest to their own experiences. I think a lot of people already subscribe to both r/equality and r/MensRights, but there's no need trying to shame those who don't.

One of the comments on that page: The NY Times had a piece on this a few months ago, and they cited research that shows men go through hormonal shifts (though much less dramatic) for the first few months after their partners give birth. There's a potential evolutionary explanation - decreased testosterone makes men less aggressive (though often depressed), making them more likely to not get violent during the stress of a new born's arrival, or to wander when their mate can't have sex. It's kinda…

You just missed a perfect opportunity to use the word defenestrated.

Not a professional advice but a personal one: If this has happened at least twice, there's a high risk of it happening again. Not saying it's bound to, but relationships tend to have patterns. If there's a next time, you're likely to not being able to get out of the mess as easily as you, hopefully, will this time. So, if your wife is aware of and agrees with you that she has the full responsibility of how things turned out - maybe it is possible to get that down on paper somehow? Not only to dr…

I don't know. It seems like every time you take a stand for (or against) something, someone else feels like you're against what they took a stand for. This is a largely extended misunderstanding in the Men's Rights "vs." feminist movements. It's a strange thing, really. If I were to donate money to prostate cancer research, it does not mean I think ovarian cancer is a good thing... everyone gets that. But somehow a lot of people correlate being a feminist with not caring about, or even being opp…

I'm a feminist, have no sons, and I care. Public sex offender lists are one of the most screwed up things I know. I'm from Sweden, and we thankfully don't have them. Yet, that is. On a kind of related note, our current Minister for Justice actually suggested that all suspected (sic!) customers of prostitutes would get a purple letter sent to them, to expose them to their families. The suggestion was heavily voted down, but it's damn scary that a sitting politician actually suggest it to start wi…

women would have written the Summa Theologica and split the atom. And from Wiki: Meitner and Frisch were the first to articulate a theory of how the nucleus of an atom could be split into smaller parts That's Meitner as in Lise Meitner. As in female. Just saying.
