I want clothing stores for men only because I'm afraid of what women might think of myself while I look at clothing. Will I seem ridiculous for my tastes? I'd love to shop without worrying of what the opposite gender might think of me. I want recreational venues for men only. The problem with Jesse McLaren's article is that it changes the topic at hand. The topic of the discussion is "Do men have problems that are generally ignored or denied by society?". McLaren answers "Yes, but these problems are justified, therefore there are no such problems"; it's self-contradicting: "Yes these problems exist, but no they do not exist". I know at least it's not working with me. When I see women going naked to protest something or draw attention to an issue (or even men, but that's rare and I can't even recall a single example), my first thought is "Oh, you think I'm a selfish pervert who doesn't care about legitimate social issues unless I see nudity?
