| 2 | Is this man a sexual predator or a bad flirt? At the same time, corrosive feminity is also an issue. Its just that any time someone brings up an example of it, its due to patriarchy's control on women. Agression is a trait linked with masculinity, therefore toxic masculinity = toxic aggresion. However, passivity is a trait linked with femininity, then corrosive femininity = corrosive passivity . Even the label "corrosive femininity" works in tangent with "toxic masculinity". When something is toxic it is actively dangerous. When something c… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 10/06/16 07:13 AM |
| 2 | Is this man a sexual predator or a bad flirt?I believe blaming a victim for being assaulted because: they were asking for it, or for the clothes they were wearing, or not saying no is victim blaming. However, if a person is in a situation where they have considerable control of their situation but allow themselves to be walked over or give in, I do not believe that is victim blaming. This woman in the post had the oppurtunity to leave, she said no many times but gave in to some advances instead of standing her ground. | 3 | Is this man a sexual predator or a bad flirt?I definitely agree toxic masculinity exists but I also think there's nothing wrong with moderate masculinity. Its when it become's extreme that it becomes toxic: Man wont hold purse, man wont wear pink, wont associate with something because its girly, and MOST IMPORTANTLY man wont show emotion (which leads to mental/emotional instability). At the same time, corrosive feminity is also an issue. Its just that any time someone brings up an example of it, its due to patriarchy's control on women. | 2 | Is this man a sexual predator or a bad flirt? There was a thread a few days ago on Askwomen where they were discussing toxic masculinity and if there was a female equivalent. Of course the discussion got sidetracked and became all masculinity = toxic masculinity, and the closest they got to it was internal misogyny. I grew up with three sisters, two older and one younger, and our parents were hard on us equally. But there were many instances of my sisters doing things, or avoided doing things, in order to preserve their femininity. Some thi… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 09/06/16 01:44 AM |
| 5 | Is this man a sexual predator or a bad flirt? She was doing that thing that women sometimes do. Trying not to make a scene. Trusting that if she got down to her underwear and put her feet in the water, Creep-o would back off. It doesn't work like that. And young girls should be told as much. And this, is an example of corrosive femininity. Toxic masculinity does exist but it is one-half of the problem. Corrosive femininity, just like toxic masculinity, is femininity taken to an extreme. Toxic masculinity turns men into robots devoid of emot… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 09/06/16 01:19 AM |
