If you can't be bothered to make me feel welcome and engaged then you aren't worth my time. I'm not totally against testing the waters, but if I'm openly disrespected (beyond banter), bored and ignored I can be that at home with a bigger screen, better internet and cheaper food & beverages.

+1. I'm a ham radio operator: there are clubs across the U.S. and beyond. While I'm not into the craft for its own sake, people who are into that stuff not uncommonly share similar interests such as aviation, cars, computers, electronics and firearms. Joining a shooting club is another great way to meet people. There exists a slew of computer-focused Meetup groups, from OpenStreetMap to Linux User Groups.

If anyone has legitimate advice on how to get results from dating apps I'm all ears. I've been on and off of them for 16 years with nothing to show for them but wasted time, money and emotions.

Refusing to pay for her is masterful, and not reacting and letting her friends pull her off you was the best move because anything that happened to her would be down to them and not you. Seriously. Don't be codependent. Don't enable bad behavior.
/r/askTRP17/02/21 06:39 PM

Precisely. "I'm a woman! I can't be wrong!" will only get her so far after a while.

While you would have been morally-justified in physically removing her from you we all know that in a male vs female physical altercation, the male will be castigated as the villain, no-questions-asked. You did the right thing. If anything, you showed those around you not only how much self-control you have but how much she *doesn't*.

AMEN. Dating sites are worthless time & money pits. The biggest piece of crap car on which I ever wrenched was a better investment than those sites.

Disclaimer: Not sure if this counts, as these things are more recreational projects than uncomfortable, though any type of mental problem-solving has its uncomfortable moments, this being no exception. On days off of my IT job I would tackle building something new to enhance the capabilities of my home network. One project in mind was using a Raspberry Pi and a GPS module to build a fully-functional, GPS-reading, off-the-grid NTP server, so in the event of an Internet access outage I won't lose …

All I want to do is lay down and do nothing. And when I do nothing I feel I am wasting my life and I get depressed. But neither want to do anything. Feel like this all the time. Unless you're sleep-deprived from staying up too late on work nights for several days, it doesn't fix anything. Find something to do, even if it's cleaning up something around the house or going for a walk. Anything is better than that.

it's good you're depressed. That means your thinking logically. When you are depressed you're thinking "Hey I am not happy where I am right now in life" OP: now do something to climb out of it. ;) *thumbsup*

If you can beg / borrow / steal (well, not that last one) a pair or two of leggings or tights, particularly if they're Elastane / Lycra / Spandex, you *will* get noticed. The caveat? If his self-confidence or self-image is lacking he may be intimidated and refrain from approaching you. I second the advice everyone else is giving about "coincidentally" ending up in the same place as him, especially while smiling at him.

They think women that are homemakers are lazy. Not when it's done properly. Now, it's true that women who lounge around all-day-every-day studying the detail of every last episode of Jersey Shore legitimately perpetuate this negative stereotype. That having been said, women who keep the house at least semi-clean (I mean...kids, ya know?) help the kids with their homework and school projects cart them across town for every activity under the sun keep everyone well-fed provide a loving embrace to …

the majority of women are simply gold-diggers I suppose you can't really blame them as they're looking for support. Survival is a basic instinct we all share. That having been said, she has to have something to bring to the table, and it sounds like commitment...the most basic, fundamental thing any woman can bring...ain't it. She ain't got nothin' the higher-quality pool to which you'll have access won't have. Swipe left.

You don't know enough about him or me to determine whether or not we are addicts. People who are in high-stress situations for long periods of time not uncommonly take the opportunity on a break to get trashed. That doesn't make them an addict. If you're trying to bring that "Even one drink is too many!" malarkey in here, you won't be taken seriously.

In this day and age it's good for you to be asking these questions, but provided he isn't asking you to do anything out of your way I don't see an issue with it. Since you asked your parents I'm assuming you are young and starting off in life, so he may have felt obliged to help you out. God bless him. If you feel uncomfortable about it and he doesn't want to take it back, you can always sell it and donate the proceeds to a church or worthy charity of your choosing. You know what I'd do? Keep it…

This is codependent behavior. It is a documented cycle. She acts out every time she is unhappy or wants something. This is how children behave, not healthy, grown adults. It sounds like either: she needs to get some therapy or medication of some sort* to get this behavior under control you need to kick her to the curb There is no point in staying with someone who emotionally and psychologically abuses you. *both of which I have done myself, misogyny-accusers

UBER is the alcoholic's transportation solution, and it's cheap. If you're going to get trashed regularly, this how you should be getting around. Warn the driver if you're feeling sick before getting in. Spending the ride home with your face in a trash bag might be the difference between feeling like garbage for an evening and that plus a $250 charge on your card.

You have a problem with alcohol. We don't know enough about the situation to authoritatively determine that. OP could have busted their butt for weeks on end and let off some steam for an evening.

I think he was getting at the fact that while it's wrong, we've all FU and done it at one point or another: OP shouldn't focus on denigrating themself so much as stopping the behavior.

^ THIS, OP. THIS. ^ @u/FuckinHelpful, in which courts do you practice? Yeah, I learned most of that from studying William Maze's material. He and Patrick Barone are Michigan's Big Dogs in OWI/OWVI defense. Andrew Flusche and Bob Battle of Virginia have some good material as well. William "Bubba" Head wrote a DUI rights card that has been adapted by attorneys in numerous states, including Mr. Maze in Michigan.

While OP needs to stop driving intoxicated, he ought to take anything MADD says with a grain of salt. They have morphed from an organization with a positive mission to an enemy maniacal boss who advocates for harsher convictions and longer sentences, funded by court-mandated treatment courses where they guilt-trip attendees for allegedly abusing alcohol and being a menace to the planet, worse than a child molester. It's so bad its founder has admitted this. OP FU by making a piss-poor decision t…

How would one drink Uber? Condensation from the A/C? Condensation from the exhaust? I don't think modern V8s do this. Coolant leaks? Toxic. No, thank you. EDIT: It was a joke, folks. Lighten up.

Your loss of your secret security clearance will rely on your employer, if I'm not mistaking. A pending DUI charge should not be an immediate revocation for "secret." That's determined using the 13 adjudicative guidelines.

I’m worried about losing my job. Im an engineer and have secret clearance at a defense contractor. I’m worried about my rep (not gonna tell people I am so embarrassed) You need to tell the Site Security Officer at the customer site or with your contractor (take your pick). One DUI conviction doesn't generally kill a clearance, but the sooner they hear about it the sooner they can look into it. You're not entitled to them and they aren't entitled to you. These are merely market forces. I'm 36, Marine Corps dress blues bagged me almost no dates, and I'm still single / never married. > Also, I keep thinking I might be too old to have the real cute and young girls. In addition to being an r/AmIUgly -certified '3', I have the worst problems talking to women out of anyone I know. Even Marine Corps dress blues weren't enough to overcome it. ... ...except for one year, when I was in an internship doing the best job I ever had. That is the only year I have ever successfully taken anyone to the Marine Corps Ball. OP is right. Dr. Jordan Peterson echoes this as well.

Build a nice creative space for yourself. We men might roll our eyes at the concept of a "She-Shed", but we have man caves for our creative outlets. Find someplace on your property where to which you can escape for a little while. Do something relaxing or creative in that space.

The only thing of which I can think specific to military folks is to get a look at his service records: see if he's been where he says he's been and what trouble he's been in, if any. It's easy to fake war stories and put things on one's uniform they don't rate. Don't be ashamed of having a thing for military guys. Lots of good-hearted, chaste, virtuous women do. How you behave and take care of yourself speaks for who you are in this regard.
