Huh, that's weird I've never had a class like that forced on me. In my college experience we've always had choices. Like we had to take a humanities course but we could choice from a women's studies or a minority studies or something like that. I haven't take a women's studies but have taken a minority studies and I image that the classes would be pretty similar. I learned a lot from that class that I wasn't aware of from before. Maybe you'll be surprised at what you learn to. Or if you disagree…

Well it sounds like you are a feminist but you're really stuck on the terminology and have an idea in your head what a feminist looks like and refuses to claim to fit into that mold. Feminism is not for white women, it's for all women. It's also for men too. You said you believed in all the things I listed above. Feminism is the movement that helped women get those rights. If it wasn't for feminist they wouldn't be able to join the work force and make amazing contributions to society like Margar…

Well thanks for being nice. I was feeling really attacked for believing women deserve equal rights and wasn't sure if I was amongst people who didn't believe women deserved rights. Some of the commenters are sounding that way. I also believe men deserve the same rights as women though too. I don't believe it should go one way. But from my understanding of feminism and egalitarianism is that you can be both. Egalitarian is more of a broader idea of equality and feminism is the a narrower focus on…

Feminism is the the belief that women should have those rights. Of course it was people who made the actions happen, but to make the actions happen the first step is to have the belief that women deserve those rights. I'm just trying to explain the simple explanation of what feminism is. If you believe women deserve the right to vote, if you believe women should be able to own property, a business and have the right to run for office, if you believe women should be able to live and work if an en…

See that's the thing though. You wrote the words helping only women But just because this organization helps women doesn't mean they can't help men. It's like a charity group that chooses to focus on helping women gain equal footing in certain areas like the right to vote, sexism in the work place, domestic violence, etc... But just because they're involved in this and care about this doesn't mean they can't also be apart of an organization that helps men too. It's like someone who is in a chari…

I wouldn't want feminism to hold a monopoly on gender equality. I never said that. Everyone on here seems to be under the impression that if you say you're a feminist and care about women's rights then you must automatically not care about men's rights. That's not true, I care about men's rights as well. Just because feminism doesn't talk about male issues doesn't mean there is a rule that they can't. You can be both a feminist and an egalitarian. And if you call yourself an egalitarian then you…

Actually women have fought and died in wars to earn that right before they had the right to vote. Hundreds of women died in the Civil War. As you can imagine it wasn't easy for more women to do this because many of them had children they had to care for and a farm to take care of. Someone had to stay home to take care of those responsibilities and men can't breastfeed. But women have fought and died in wars even if it was illegal for them to do so. And if they couldn't vote then who the hell do …

She's saying we need to help each other. But you seem to have your head too far up your ass to hear that because you're too busy thinking "Oh my god I have to be nice to women. Fuck that shit." Jesus christ does being nice to women and caring about their problems piss you off that much? Is it really that much of a burden? When I hear about issues that men typically face I stop, listen, like actually listen, think about it, and fucking care. But I guess you can't be bothered to do the same.

I didn't just prove your point. I just stated that if you're an Egalitarian, which you seem to say you are then that technically means by definition that you ARE ALSO a feminist. You are a feminist if you're an egalitarian!!!! Think of feminism like a charity. It's a charity that helps women in areas where they really need help like domestic violence, sexual assault, sexism in the work place, being able to vote, etc... this is a group that helps those women. If you believe women deserve that aid…

I didn't really mean to ignore all the comments. Well I guess I did for a while. I just started to get a lot and after so much activity reddit makes you wait to respond and I just haven't had the time to be on Reddit for that long. I'm not going to respond too much more to these comments because I it's too much of a time sucker and I have other things to do. I just wanted to touch on the fact that if you are truly an Egalitarian then you're automatically also a feminist. Go ahead and look that u…

She's not just reading off some script, she wrote it. She may be an actress but that doesn't make her an idiot, she's graduated from Brown University and is an UN ambassador. I have no idea who she's dating and what he's like so I can't comment to that. I don't keep up with celebrity gossip. But I think what she said has real weight to it and has some valid points. I have a question for you though. What would you like to see her do? What would you prefer women or men too do to help men?

I'm not a troll. I actually didn't even realize I was posting on a Men's Right subreddit until after I saw all the women hate stuff and was thinking what the heck is up and looked to see where I was. This article just popped on my feed and I thought it was interesting. 1) I do agree that the women not having to contribute to the draft is sexist to men. I think it made sense in the past because people married younger and had families younger so the women had to stay home with the children. But I …

I don't understand why this would be important to you? I'm not a minority but recognize that it have classes that educate others on minority issues and history is important. Can't you just not take it and let others do what they want?

Actually yes. Look it up. If you search wether an egalitarian is a feminist it'll say yes. You can't be an egalitarian without also being a feminist. But you can be a feminist without being an egalitarian, but doesn't mean you have to be. There is no stipulation in the definition of feminist that they can't support mens rights too. The only thing they can't do is go against womens rights. I'm both. Feminist aren't after more, they're after getting to equal footing on discriminated areas. If you'…

You can be an egalitarian and a feminist. Actually if you are an egalitarian you're automatically a feminist as well.

Actually your fucking dumb. You can be both. Actually being an egalitarian automatically makes you a feminist as well. So even if you identify as an egalitarian you wouldn't be wrong if you also stated that you're a feminist.

No, I'm saying that there are thousands of causes I care a lot about. Helping the homeless, supporting the vets, firefighters, etc... helping the poor and victimized. You can't do it all. I'm taking a lot of time out of my day to talk to everyone on here as a means of trying to communicate and support feminism. I speak up for it whenever it comes up in conversation. But I live in a rural town and I don't have the time or money to travel to conferences or spend too much time on events or online. …

haha, yeah right. How the fuck is that true. What are their responsibilities that aren't equal? Women have so many responsibilities I can't imagine what you're thinking? How do they have more rights?

Here are some facts on male circumcision. It says this "Despite rumors to the contrary, circumcision has no effect on a man’s fertility, nor does it affect —negatively or positively — sexual pleasure for either partner." and basically lists the pros and cons: Pros of Circumcision decreased risk of urinary tract infections decreased risk of penile cancer decreased risk of sexually transmitted diseases easier genital hygiene Cons of Circumcision some see circumcision as mutilation to the body ther…

By definition they don't have to. But they should want to and they can want to. Just because the stipulation isn't there doesn't mean they can't give a shit about men's rights as well. This term was created in the 1830s when women were basically fucking owned by men. Men could beat them, rape them, they couldn't vote, own property, get a divorce. They needed an advocacy group. Just because the group helps women get these basic human rights doesn't mean they hate men and don't think they deserve …

It's a problem when we apply any negative terms or actions to a certain sex. Men or women. Violence is a bad term and shouldn't be one men should want. Kindness is good and men should be happy to carry that as a masculine term as well. On the flip side there are negative terms for women like being weak(not just physically but emotionally too). Men are known as strong and women would like to have that term applied to them as well. Really we need to change how we view both sexes. There's a lot wro…

Yeah, I don't see what's wrong with that sentence. Feminism advocates for women's rights in areas where they are disadvantaged compared to men so that we can become equal. What don't you understand about that? For example men had the right to vote, we didn't, feminism helped change that so we could be on equal political footing. Same thing can be applied to a lot of areas that men had rights to and women didn't such as owning property, business, being able to divorce, etc...

I don't think that No True Scotsman fallacy actually applies in this situation. Because it's like saying "Christians don't worship Satan." -"But I know lots of Christians that worship Satan." - "Well no true Christian would worship Satan." So yeah, I would have to go with by the core values with a christian and say no true christian would actually worship satan and those who say they are and they do aren't really christians. Historically feminism was started by a man in the 1830s because women b…

It really is a very great video. And just because she's an actress doesn't mean she doesn't have a valid points and intellectual mind. She speaks about the true definition of feminism and she speaks about a lot of inequality that men face. I love how she talked about how horrible men are treated as well and we need to help each other. Okay, so that means that anyone who is pushing to outlaw FGM in other countries is NOT a feminist, as that nowhere in the world are men's genitals protected by law…

So under your logic I can just say "I'm French," when in fact I'm an American. The North Korea thing is really tricky and I'd rather not get into a discussion on that. Plus everyone knows that North Korea lies and just because they say it and got it printed doesn't mean it's true because we know the true definition of democrat. So it's basically a femi-natzi saying she's a feminist got it printed that she is, but doesn't actually fit the definition. Let me try to give a different example to help…

<If the problem is with the people who take the ideologies to the extreme, they aren't good ideologies. How can equal rights for women who have been oppressed be a bad ideology? Seriously I can't grasp how anyone could who isn't sexist could think there is something wrong with women's rights. Do you think women should live as they did in the 1800s? Second, there are tons of examples of things that can start out with good intentions that people take to the extreme. Specially religion. There are s…

Okay, so if I can show you scenarios where feminists are not behaving as if this is the standard they're striving for, will you abandon the idea? No, because if you're showing me examples where "feminists" are not behaving like this then they aren't actually feminists. I know a lot of racist people who say they aren't racist but do a lot of racist things. This doesn't change the definition it just makes the people who call themselves that a lier. What would it take for you to admit that feminism…

Well you obviously know nothing about the term feminism and it's origin. First off the official definition of feminism is: the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. Second off egalitarianism is good and I believe in that, but just because the term egalitarianism exists doesn't mean feminism automatically means something else. Feminism is still about equality. But it's called feminism because when the term was invented by a French man in the 1830s women were not eq…

Well those women aren't truly feminists. They give feminism a bad name. The true feminist was the woman speaking back and standing up for men's rights, health and issues as well. Because feminism is about equality, not superiority. To me it's about us helping each other and not making it about one gender over another.

Well at least you're not stating it as impossible. This probably has A LOT to do with where you live too(What is socially acceptable where you live and whats the norm). I live in California and yes, I'm a woman. Not sure if you're trying to prove some point that only a woman could believe this. I would find that a bit insulting if I were a man. Not exactly sure what you mean by natural dynamics. I would be honest and say that my female friends tend to be closer because we have more in common. Bu…

That's weird because I have plenty of platonic friends of the opposite sex and so does my spouse. It seems to work out just fine for both of us. I guess it has to do with seeing someone for who they are and not just what their genitals are.

Haha I know. I'll be honest I hate the Red Pill attitude, I was hoping to change some attitudes towards women. Men get angry when they're rejected and want to put all this blame on the opposite gender, but they don't try to see things from a woman's pov. She's always a bitch, slut, prude, etc... Not saying that women can't be mean and horrible at times, but I think a lot of the times men just don't understand their actions for doing certain things because they don't have to face the same issues.…

You're looking at her first initial text all wrong. She didn't say "i'm sort of seeing someone, but could be fun." Because she was a cheating slut looking for attention. It sounds to me that it was a new relationship and it wasn't exactly official official, so she wasn't sure. She also sounds like the type of girl that is too nice and doesn't want to disappoint people or assume they want to hang out just to get laid. Maybe she thought you just wanted a friend. Sometimes I have a hard time tellin…
