I'll start it by answering your questions. What goals and morals a person must have it's up to each one of them to answer because these come from their own experiences and judgment, not my wishes and speculations. By that answer i didn't mean to condone with muslim culture. But it's undeniable that from the point of view of men towards marriage they are much more advantageous, and about the functionality of marriage itself too. Matrimony laws in the West aren't just bad ethically, are a dysfunctional mess too.

But the consequences if that happens make all the difference on the viability of marriage. In a muslim world this wouldn't mean been divorce raped, financial fall out, lose custody of the children and have to deal with the cheater to sort out the mess. It would mean that you could just move on with your life and your property knowing that her love and social life is doomed, if she not end up killed.

Brazil was colonized by Portugal (western Europe) and even once formed a united kingdom with it. Its language is derived from latin and adopted the Roman based legal system. So this country is pretty much Western, despite the non Anglo-Saxonical origin.
