EDIT - it always makes me laugh when I post a comment and it’s downvoted before I even had a chance to finish proofreading it. OP posted a 6,200 word rant and then couldn’t even manage to read my 250 word response before downvoting 🙄🤷‍♂️ Or it's because your depiction of "rants about how women have it better and always have " is a complete straw-man of the OP's argument and "isn’t going to convince anyone of anything except that you have a lot of bitterness and animosity towards women" is the ty…

The cognitive dissonance comes in the form of some liberals having two world views at once. One world view where all men are demonize as violent predators, abusers, and predators. And another world-view where liberals must be empathetic towards criminals from marginalized groups. They don't hold two views. Male perpetrators with female victims are not viewed empathetically at all, marginalized or not. The liberal "empathy" only exists for non-gendered crimes (or primarily male-victim crimes), so…

And of course they hide all of this behind the Pubic Relations spin of "But Feminism is a movement for equality!" or "Feminism is for men too!" Well, they're even selective about this as well. They're just as likely to revert to "make your own movement like women did" when we call for them to care about male issues.

Fascinating! I'm totally open to hearing how you reached that conclusion. Hope you didn't think I was accusing you of something, I respect you as a commenter. But describing the treatment of women as infantilization falls into feminist propaganda because it again tries to paint situations of female privilege as actually being sourced in misogyny. (in this case infantilizing women). Feminists absolutely do not infantilize women in situations where it benefits them and infantilization would result…

I would put forth the assertion that we simply are more likely to infantilize women. No, this is just falling into feminist propaganda.

If it means being against them then so be it .why do you care about their feelings too much? Because they are an enormous amount of the populace and have enormous societal influence.

There's also this idea that in order for men's issues to be discussed / looked into it means taking away attention or resources from women's issues.. (But remember, Equality isn't a zero sum game!) Even if it were a zero sum game, it still wouldn't explain the utter neglect of males or any sharing of that attention and resources. That is, they don't merely think it's a zero-sum game, they also think women alone are the only deserving recipients of those resources. Which is why they can spend eno…

and if plenty of women who were circumcised don't mind it, then maybe we should bring it back and have it forced on millions without their consent too, huh? It affected OP, it affected me. Do you not think that the ones who did experience harm should be a larger focus for justifying whether a forced unnecessary mutilation done without consent is appropriate, than those who seem okay with it? You're not going to get a coherent response.

Having been "cut" at birth I have never once in my life said, "gee, you know what I'm missing the most in my life and is my formative trauma? My foreskin Good for you. I'm sure I can find women who have endured childhood genital cutting and don't face trauma over it (especially in places where it is normalized) and are equally glib about it. Yet that wouldn't legitimize it in the eyes of people like you. The fact is that genital cutting of females (even non-permanent versions) are illegal in muc…

It seems like you have no concern for male Ukranian lives, or how the current government treats them; especially with regards to female Ukranians.

LOL, seriously. Men and boys should be forced at gunpoint to conform to their gender obligations, even when it results in death/dismemberment, but women of course should face no similar obligation.

LMAO, there is no country that only conscripts women, many countries that only conscript men, many that condition men's basic rights on their conscription, but you're still being pedantic on this misandry. Ridiculous for a supposed male advocate. Also your knowledge of Japan, India, Iraq, and Pakistan wrt to their misandrist attitudes towards military service is absurd.

Also my income is double that of my husband haha And how is that relevant? I have no idea why you're laughing when I'm speaking of female child predators being systematically protected in your country. It's horrifying. Though I'm 100% certain you have never done anything to combat it. Divorce here requires both parties consent unless you can prove the other is abusive in court I already pointed out the double standards your country, and most others, have towards male victims of abuse.

as true Feminism should be about equality and so true feminists should still care about dismantling traditional gender roles and societal expectations that harm men, however unfortunately many seem to be disinterested or outright opposed to anything that would benefit men This really feels like a no true-Scotsman; if the majority of feminists don't advocate against harmful anti-male gender roles/attitudes, and many others actively entrench them, then we can safely say that feminism as an ideolog…

If the provision solely applies to women who are victims then I have no problem. Though seeing the double standards your country, and you, have wrt female predators I highly doubt this is the case, but again w/e. Women have a right to bodily autonomy, as do men. The underlying principle is actually quite simple. Any time a man would be legally obligated to provide for a child, he should be informed when that obligation is ended. Fin.

Sure, but you claimed that the current attitude had nothing to do with dogma, and was just a result of taxpayer incentive. I then pointed out that if that were the case, the laws would look a lot different, since the state takes on the tax burdens of mothers all the time.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/08/26 02:30 PM

Yea, I'm sure if fathers threatened to kill newborns for not getting out of responsibility, it would be considered a "tragic necessity" to allow it so that men could get our of parental responsibility. /s Seriously, we'd have the most draconian laws set up if that were the case. This is just an absurd rationalization of misandrists; they'd never in a million years accept this in the other direction

As for your counterpoint, I'd say if the mother is financially able she should have to pay child support to the orphanage in that situation. And yet that isn't the case in reality. At all. Which disproves your idea that this attitude is due to "shifting the burden onto taxpayers" rather than dogmatic gynocentrism, as I pointed out.

Yes if a woman rapes a man and gets pregnant, she will 100% go to jail and cannot get abortion unless husband agrees. I just asked my father who is a lawyer. Happy? Respond please /u/ilikepizza2626 What do you expect me to respond to? i was asking a question wrt the law. Can't tell if you're being serious right now. If the underlying concern was "burden to the taxpayer" then women giving up their children to a foster system/orphanage, or leaving them in front of a fire station would receive the same sort of approbation, but both are entirely legal. The state routinely takes on "financial burdens" when women give up their children, something they don't allow males.

Taiwan law hates both sexes lmao. A father in law raped daughter in law when daughters husband was in jail, multiple times and guess what? He was sentenced to just 1 year and 6 months Not sure how this responds to my specific questions with respect to the law and legal obligations. (and I can find a dozen cases of women raping underage boys and being given even less time, both in Taiwan and pretty much anywhere else in the world. Previous posts on different subs have received overwhelmingly negative reception. Why is that? If a married man is legally required to provide for a (possible) child, then I don't see how it is even a debate that he should be informed if that obligation is terminated. 5.)Pregnancy as a result of re or inct If the conditions were caused by the woman, why shouldn't the husband be informed? I don’t believe a woman’s bodily autonomy should be dependent on any way on whether the father of the fetus consents or not. However, I do think the father should have the right to legally deny any responsibility for the child within the same time period during which the mother has the ability to get an abortion, This is a completely reasonable position; but as you know, many who agree with you wrt the woman's bodily autonomy, will completely flip and turn into the most regressive dogmatist when…

I have never once denied that at all. Is this a joke? Nothing in your comments once reflected on the extent of female sexual and physical abuse of boys, you simply referred to the danger women feel, that there are "many bad men", and used that as a justification for societal misandry and the need for OP to call out other men. I also said that men need to be cautious of those women. This means nothing to boys raped by these women, and the fact that you put the onus on men to be cautious of them, …

"Crazy women, murderous men", right? Yes, but you shouldn't expect a sincere response from them, after looking at their responses to your own experience of abuse (I am also a victim of female sexual abuse so I know), they have no concern, especially for male victims, at all; especially when the perpetrator is female.

Crazy women, murderous men. That you try to reduce it to this dichotomy shows your bigotry to the sheer extent of abused/killed/suicidal men and boys, and the societal protection of female abusers. Please have a good day, I hope you feel better after commenting on this 🙏🏻 Lovely

I have 1 female friend who is all the things you say, Sure you do My post and point of it was that he (the op) should not take to heart all the things these angry extremists (on both sides ) are saying, because that's not 99/100 of the people you interact with. Pretty sure I called out women multiple times in my post dude. No you didn't. Which was my point; that women are not admonished for not calling out harmful and misandrist behavior in other women. Because they literally consider themselves better people. Oh, no doubt. Everyone on here is aware that bad men exist. Absolutely, we just don't reduce this to men as a whole. Feminists/women however think all women are good and bad women are only tiny, fringe cases. So tiny it's not even worth talking about their existence. You step up and advocate for women. How does that help with the misandry of society? Wouldn't advocating for males against misandry be a much healthier response? You understand, many men are bad. So are many women It's not weak. Just don't take it personally - be a good man, correct necessary behaviour when it comes up, and correct other men when you see it too. Sure. But all the people in this sub already know that. Collecting grievances to put on the wall is going to convince exactly zero people outside of it to change their behavior. Like the comment said, this group is titled leftwingedmaleadvocates but I see a large lack of left winged support. I haven't seen that I'm okay with a larger dialogue but the title is a bit misleading. Maybe just male advocates. It's male advocacy from a left-wing perspective. So what if I'm a conservative (i would actually be considered left wing in my own country)? That's just a statement about how regressive your country is, not a statement about how left you are. Doesn't mean i subscribe to the manosphere or the red pill (i disagree with them). Who said you were? I'm sorry. I struggle myself with isolation and other things because of my gayness and my neurodivergancy( I don't even like saying the word because people treat me like I'm stupid.) I think calling them the Left is what distills the term and shifts the Overton Window more and more Right. The Left has an implicit drive towards equality and misandry isn't that Yes, but in the end we are going by self-identity. That so many misandrists identify themselves as the left means we have to face that, because they appropriate the labels of "liberalism" or "progressiveness". Two examples from the top of my head would be feminist organisations calling for a yea vote to extend paternity leave specifically for fathers. This is what I was talking about when I mentioned things that incidentally benefit men; paternity leave can be presented as easing the burden on mothers and so fighting anti-male bias isn't the actual impetus. I live in a country filled with them (Switzerland) they keep stepping up when mens issues are on the table or mens rights are threatened. I'd like to see what examples you have in mind. Another No True Scotsman fallacy they like to use when you confront them is "that's not true feminism" and "what branches of feminism" do you have an issue with? And they literally spend more time and energy declaring "that's not true feminism" when we confront them than they do in actually calling out/refuting those same supposed "fake feminists." The only thing this forum showed me was a distortion of any male responsibility for history and the fact that in certain aspects of life, women are more discriminated against. This forum hasn't done any such thing, though we do combat the absurd oversimplifications of feminists' view of history. Feminism is not a movement that has a fight against men. I don't think feminists are fighting male issues, Feminists have literally fought against gender-neutral rape laws (that continue to protect and empower female child predators), and have implemented policies that discriminate against male victims of IPV (e.g. the Duluth Model) all while doing nothing about the gender sentencing gap (that absolutely dwarfs the racial/wealth sentencing gap) and doing nothing to change these laws that continue to protect female perpetrators. I don't think that one person who considers herself a feminist says that she is misandrical is the closing evidence of the whole discussion. Sure, it doesn't seal the deal by itself. However, combine it with all the other examples of misandry along with the utter neglect/outright fighting against male issue by feminists, and it paints a pretty clear picture of the movement as a whole.

I disagree, the feminists I observe disagree with misandry. Yes, and these "true feminists" almost entirely exist in anecdotes, while mainstream media, organizations, campaigns etc. are dominated by this misandry. Actual, concrete fighting against misandry by feminists is laughably paltry, which is awfully strange if so many feminists are in fact opposed to the misandry in their movement and care about the rights and lives of men and boys.

What the actual fuck. Are we indigenous to the same reality? In the same galaxy? Yes, you're just too blinded by your dogmas to recognize it. Feminists have fought against gender-neutral rape laws, have fought for discriminatory policies on IPV against men (e.g. the Duluth Model), have succeeded in distorting statistics surrounding male victims and female perpetrators, and have produced and elevated a narrative about abuse that that has helped protect and empower female perpetrators while margin…

It is, as you note, a deeply misandrist sentiment that devalues male lives. And while it's use in the case of war/deaths is the most extreme, the sentiment is omnipresent in other facets of life regardless of whether children are involved. but let's not act like a broken justice system only affects women and not men. Then why did you bring it up in relation to female victims at all if you admit that it affects men as well? Anecdotally, the feminists I've met are more likely to be concerned with male victims than non-feminists. Misogyny historically solidified through class-based exclusion from power, whereas misandry tends to institutionalise through role-based obligation and disposability. You haven't shown how the underlying mechanism is different; that the exclusion isn't based on role-based attitudes just like misandry. The more parsimonious explanation is that these are two sides of the same coin of socially enforced gender roles, which avoids the pointless gendering of the word "patriarchy". So I’m seeing patria…

And yet there is massive railing against supposed "toxic masculinity" despite the fact that these traits can be exhibited by both genders; that's the misandrist double standard.

For me it's the inclusivity of all demographics in the fight for equality. It allows us to support transgendered men and women and recognize the role that misandry plays in society's attitudes toward them. We can accept men who don't fit into the rigid gender roles society places them into and the harm that comes from shaming them for failing to meet it. We recognize men of all races and so understand the ways that misandry has intersected with racism against minority men. These aren't going to …

Womens most important duty in war is to have babies that can replace the population that is killed off, this is especially important if the war ends up lasting so long that the new population ends up needing to be drafted in. This is not my opinion, it's just an objective fact based on historical precedents. And will those women be forced to perform this duty? Will they be imprisoned if they refuse? Rape is a legitimate matter of bodily autonomy. However, sexual assault is already illegal, irrespective of the gender of the perpetrator or victim. There should be more resources available for male victims of sexual abuse. Yes, there needs to be more resources for us. There also needs to be more action towards proper sentencing of female perpetrators, which is also and injustice to us. And I feel the line of bodily autonomy gets blurred when a pregnancy is a result of a part/production of me (s…

When I say "bodily autonomy," I mean "the ability to dictate what happens to your body." When I say "reproductive rights," I mean "the ability to determine whether, when, how, and with whom to have children." Except these aren't separate in a society where reproductive consequences are forced on males. Raped men and boys being forced by law to pay support to their rapists or face their freedom being taken away are absolutely having what they do with their bodies dictated.

Part of the social reason women aren't treated the same is based in the backwards and disproven stereotype that women cannot overpower men, and while that can have an elemt of misandry to it, but is rooted heavily in misogyny Except women are given lighter sentences than men and are treated with such an obscene level of leniency in the justice system regardless of the crime (Even when they commit crimes against children). WTF are you on about? You just completely ignored all the gendered issues I posted. And I didn't even mention the military. Some feminist people absolutely do try to help men. In Norway they opened domestic violence shelters for men in 2020(I think I remember the year correctly) Source: https://www.nkvts.no/english/project/intimate-violence-against-men/ Where does it say that feminists are responsible for this?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/09/22 01:36 AM
6

I think you're misinterpreting what he's claiming. He's not saying that men's shelters are outlawed. He's talking about public funds being used for shelters that exclude males. Allowing governmental funds to be used in a discriminatory way is what disadvantages men.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/09/22 04:11 AM

Only men have to register for the draft, and only men are conscripted to combat. This is absolutely an issue of misandry and the societal attitudes toward male disposability

To add to SchalaZeal01's points. The gendering of rape laws and reporting and the complete absence of reproductive rights for male victims of rape as well as unequal sentencing of female perpetrators.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/08/22 04:08 PM
6

I also wonder if this applies to underage/child sex crimes. Because they define rape as only applying to penetration by the offender, while the "equivalent" application to females still limits it to "causing" a person to engage without consent. I don't know if they consider a female having sex with a boy as inherently "causing" him to engage in sex, or if it only applies to forcible rape.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/05/22 05:03 AM

Paper abortions are a bullshit way to legitimize absentee fathers, harm towards children, and increase harm towards single mothers. No, they're a necessary protection for male rape victims being forced to pay child support to their rapists. Any person with integrity would be horrified by that.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/05/22 06:29 AM
9

While I do find rape to be misogynistic in essence and think that rapists often feel some sort of entitlement to sex or get off rape because they enjoy the humilliation, How the fuck is rape misogynistic in essence? How is a woman raping a boy or man any different than the reverse?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/05/22 08:28 PM

Logically, this shouldn't be so. If cuckholdry simply means "your partner cheating on you", then it should be able to be applied to women, because women get cheated on too. But it isn't. And a large part of that, I think, is because of evopsych and the social conditioning that arise from and reinforce that. Because the origin of the phrase as it is used isn't "your partner is cheating on you"; it refers to taking care of and investing in offspring that aren't yours biologically. This is obviousl…

It accepts and condones rape of all genders, it just *publicly denounces* male-on-female rape No, male rapists are given much longer sentences. The vast majority of domestic abuse is still men against women Can you give your source/s on this? Men often do not genuinely know its bad what they're doing. Men often make excuses that lesbians do not make for each other. I'd really like to see some unbiased evidence for this.

The numbers do indicated a difference, if we define rape exclusively which many countries do.The gap narrows when we include "made-to-penetrate" and more inclusive terms, Yes, if you exclude the majority of female rapists there's a larger gap and if you include them it's more equalized. Because the article only exhorts men when, as you admit, everyone should understand other's problems. Marking out and speaking about one demographic on issues that affect everyone is a bigoted approach. When it comes to issues facing men, women SHOULD pay attention, should call out bad behaviour, and understand where men are coming from. This is in no way misogyny. And yet the article said nothing about women doing those things. That's the bias.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/04/21 02:11 PM

It means educating boys early on respect and consent, for everyone. Do not touch anyone without their consent, do not catcall or make crude sexual comments to women, call out other boys who you are doing those behaviours. Most men don’t call out bad behaviour in their mates, their mates would think twice if they did. There's no reason to gender this though, girls engage in that behavior as well.

Sure, but if the feminists didn't advocate for this part of the law, then we can't say that couching it in pro-feminist terms is what got it established. It could be because of unrelated reasons, much like the proposed law in Israel.

Yes, there is an enormous double standard in treatment of sex crimes. The obscenely disproportionate sentences given to female perpetrators. the way the media portrays them, and in many places the double standard is written into law (e.g. gendered rape laws). The responses to them is also wildly different; for example just look at the massive movement in response to Brock Turner's sentencing vs. the countless cases of female predators being given a slap on the wrist. And yet I still have people …

Like Brock Turner? Who, let's see, objectively raped an unconscious woman, was overage and of sound mind, and got...what, 3 months in jail? I was speaking in overall demographics. Female perpetrators are consistently given significantly shorter sentences than males, and often laws themselves are biased. E.g. rape is explicitly gendered in the UK. The media isn't any better with its biases And wrt Brock Turner, there was (and is) a massive outcry against that miscarriage of justice, on a level I'…

She was given an obscenely short sentence relative to male perpetrators of the same crime, and the description of the crime (has sex with vs. abuse/rape) in the article is perhaps indicative of bias. I think that was the OP's point.

What makes you say that?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/05/20 06:31 PM

If men are pushed by societal pressure out of the home and into work, and women are pushed out of the workplace to go be at home, that's still no good even if they both "work" the same amount. Except OP's link said nothing about how society pressures men and their hours worked outside the home. It completely ignored one side to present the issue as only affecting women.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/05/20 01:27 PM

It reminds me of Joe Biden saying on a conference call that people who insist on due process are "Neanderthals." Did he really say that?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/04/20 03:34 PM
1

I'd like to see how it varies between type of crime as well. I'm also wondering if this takes into account whether women are given lesser charges/more lenient plea deals. For example, if a woman is more likely to be charged with a lesser crime in a situation where a man would be charged with rape, then there would be a huge bias missed if you just looked at sentencing relative to charges.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/04/20 11:53 AM

Some will argue it's because women are conditioned to think about other people when they commit acts so they choose "clean" ways to commit suicide so it won't be a burden for others. And they never present any evidence for that being the case.

But the legal definition of rape involves penetration. So when women 'rape' men mos of the time they are not penetrating their male victims and so legally what they are doing is not rape, it is sexual violation, a lesser crime.
