It was a term ‘60s-‘70s radical feminists (before that term took on essentially the opposite meaning) used in order to distinguish themselves from ‘femininists’ — that era of radical feminism opposed sex-based social determination and saw itself as integrally entangled with sexual/gay/men’s lib, while ‘cultural feminism’ is the antecedent of the popular strains we see today.

Honestly? I guess the problem is that I don’t pander. I read all the comments on this thread, as I frequently do here, and found it ironic and disappointing that the rhetoric of contemporary/online feminism is reproduced so frequently here but with the sexes reversed. It’s not the sex of the author, it’s the content of the work. I’d recommend feminists read Mario Mielli, for example, though he is primarily writing about the sexed expectations of men — because he is writing from a radical standpoint. If you can’t differentiate between “conservative” and “radical” then more about the users of this subreddit makes sense.

It's so fascinating that you all see politely asking someone out as something "punished" and deemed "a crime" as a result of harshness toward "low-status people."
