Me, I’m all about my kids. Do I want a fancy sports car to drive on the weekends? Yup! Do I want to go on expensive vacations overseas or on a long cruise? Also yup! Do I want to spend time with my kids building memories and doing fun activities on the weekends? You betcha! I’ll put money and time into these things over those other things every time.

I’ve felt what you’re feeling (pretty sure most of us here in this sub have). That lack of happiness and pretending to be normal is depression. I had to talk it out with my therapist to find out it’s normal and it is depression. My two recommendations that I’ve found have been helping me: Get a therapist. So many men think they don’t need it, don’t want to just talk to someone, it won’t help me, etc. Find one tomorrow if you can and book an appointment. Talking about it out loud really does help…

I’m 6 weeks into the divorce process and just finished the No More Mr Nice Guy audiobook. One thing that rang loud for me was the idea that the only person I need to please is ME. I now focus on me first as long as my kids are taken care of.
