Everyone I know thinks this is weird but nne reason I married my husband is because he straight up told me he was obsessed with me when we first started dating but he didn't do any creepy behavior. I liked that. If he was following me and killing my pets and stuff I probably wouldn't have liked that.

This is absurd. No one thinks having a father figure is bad. But men teaching their kids boys shouldn't feel emotions or teaching their daughters they shouldn't behave a certain way is different. No one wants to stop men from being men they just don't want men being assholes.

No. But women were controlled by their fathers and husbands what they could and couldn't do. If their husband didn't stop them from working then they worked. Why don't you asking some people who were alive in the 50s for yourself? And in the third world women have it much worse than men. They both have to go out and deal with the harshness of their environment but woman are the ones who come home to get beaten and raped in the home as well.

There are laws that try to make sure everything is equal for women just like laws that try to make sure everything is equal for people of different races and religions but society is not there with it. A law can't make people less racist or sexist. We need to keep fighting and struggling for equality for everyone in everyone's eyes. The fact that this reddit exist is proof that we are not there.

I'll copy and paste a true story I told another guy. My grandma tried to get a job because my grandpa would spend most of his time and money at the bar and my mother, aunt, and uncles were starving. He found out and went to her boss and told him she wasn't allowed to work and she was immediately fired. This was looked as normal. Just because things are better now doesn't mean they are equal just yet.

Feminism is equality. Currently women do not have equality. We look back on the past think how messed up it was that women were told by their husbands they could or could not work. In the future people are going to look back on today and wonder how things that we think are status quo were ok.

Its one in the same. Feeling safe and being safe. If I were safe I would also feel safe. But I am not safe because there are men lurking out there and even though its not legal they would jump my bones at the first opportunity.
