It gives me social anxiety in public and is ruining my life Drama much?

No offense, but you're grasping at straws at this moment. The fact that this was upvoted further reinforces the fact that this subreddit operates purely on bias and emotion. My post received at least 4 downvotes so far even though I linked to strictly scientific material, and have not broken any rules or Reddiquette. Just, you guys hate it when reality conflicts with your prejudices. And that is why no one takes this subreddit seriously.

Would you still quote US sources knowing that the science is invalid and based purely on US cultural views and monetary gain? No, I wouldn't. Now, the reason I asked you that question is because plenty of those recommendations were not based on science; they were based on the cultural biases of those places. The link to the Dutch organization grudgingly admitted that circumcision can possibly lower HIV rates, even though they said only a few sentences before that that there's "no convincing evid…

You didn't answer me. Would you or would you not quote them if you knew their views were based on cultural biases, not science?

If you knew that one of their anti-circumcision recommendations was based on their cultural views and not purely on science, would you still quote it?

Question: are all the anti-circumcision recommendations in those links based purely on the scientific opinion of those doctors/organizations?

What other potential malady do we treat with pre-emptive amputation? HIV? Prostate cancer? Cervical cancer?

So why would anyone want to circumcise their child except for very selfish or completely misguided reasons? To lower the chance of their kids getting STDs and AIDS?

The OP works in medicine as a professional, and he/she confirmed the endless stream of evidence in favor of circumcision. You do not work in medicine, and relying on shoddy copy/paste that doesn't rely a whole lot on science, but on cultural views and biased sources. End of story.

Because I wholeheartedly support some of the causes here, but the way this "community" conducts itself is only hurting those causes.

There are some legitimate causes here that deserve discussion and support, but you'd be wise not to throw your support for this subreddit in general, as it is usually childish, hateful and mostly a laughingstock. It serves a purpose, however, in that sexually repressed 17 year olds can find an outlet to vent, so the therapeutic side is certainly appreciated.

Google just announced Buzz/Google plus. Facebook and Twitter are doomed. Google just announced Google Answers. Yahoo Answers is fucked. Google just announced the Android. Say goodbye to the iPhone. etc.

Surprised they didn't cram in some stuff about Al Qaida or some other propaganda to get people on the bandwagon. Wait: That's bad for kids Ah there it is. THINK OF DA CHILDREN.

Some of the most unscientific and biased stuff I've read. I don't have time to refute every single one of them, so I'll start with the first few parts of your first link: Falkner09 (the guy whose post you linked to) puts down three paragraphs and none of them are sourced. After his unsourced claims, his first link is about Swedish doctors urging a ban on circumcision, but nothing at all to do with health, but rather "because the children cannot decide for themselves". The second link grudgingly …

They're flawed...because you disagree with them? "The first microbiome study of the penis offers some clues as to why removing foreskin cuts the risk of HIV infection in circumcised men" . That's a new study, done a couple of years ago, and it confirmed the studies that the World Health Organization published. Go to google, type circumcision HIV and read the plethora of proof on this, all pointing to circumcision as a protector from AIDS and a host of other diseases. For example, circumcision ca…

Ah, the good old "turn the tables" trick. It starts with you provoking your debate opponent into displaying what can be perceived as emotional responses, and then you retreat to an icy demeanor, masquerading as an objective debater. This started with you using the word 'lie' in your second to last post, and then when this provocation didn't produce the reaction you were looking for you repeated the inciter again when you said "I'm just dismayed you tried to lie to me like that." I wish you could…

Oh ok, we'll just ignore the WHO and endless other studies that were actually performed, in favor of academic speculation that aligns with your views. If you want to contradict the endless stream of pro-circumcision research, you better be prepared to present a whole lot more than this. Do you have more or is that it?

Oh ok, so I guess only things that agree with you are admitted as evidence. Since the entire section of "Satisfaction" is against you (except one puny little one), you want us to completely ignore it, and now you've moved on to another section, just because it has what you want to hear. Selective bunch, aren't we? Even the section you referenced has mistakes, and if we correct those mistakes, we'll see that circumcision is the way to go. For instance, the first one by Fink says "worse after circ…

That's the only statistic that's on your side. Everything else is against you. In fact, if we analyze that first one more thoroughly and take all the variables into consideration, I'm sure we can find it to be unscientific or at least erroneous in some way, since all other studies contradict it.

I love how you're being downvoted even though you expressed a reasonable and correct opinion in a mature and respectful manner, with the most upvoted comment is one saying "GO AWAY WE DONT WANT YOU ANYWAY!". Just goes to show the kind of maturity here, and why this "movement" will always remain insignificant and rarely more than a laughing stock.

Some studies are finding that it (circumcision) decreases the odds that a heterosexual man will contract HIV by 57 percent or more World Health Organization: "There is compelling evidence that male circumcision reduces the risk of heterosexually acquired HIV infection in men by approximately 60%." And FYI, your forthcoming emotion-based response does not refute science and research. You better have some solid science to negate the tons of proof that show how circumcision lowers the risk of many …

You are very wrong. Circumcision makes sex more pleasurable. At worst, it doesn't decrease pleasure, but remains the same as before circumcision. Studies to prove this. Oh crap, I actually used science instead of the baseless and emotionally-charged bullshit everyone here loves. ducks

Wow, Dawkins is such a cruel, condescending shit head. Edit: I also noticed the 'Muslima' part. So he's a bigoted shit head too. Gee, with someone like that leading the atheist movement, why isn't atheism getting bigger and more popular? I'm scratching my head here.

This will be a colossal disaster, just like every time it happened before. Only confusion, self-hatred, depression and possibly suicide will come out of this. I love it when people take something like gender so lightly, like it's no big deal and not a real difference.

So long as you call it "genital mutilation", you'll be ignored or -at best- laughed at. A little less sensationalism might help you.
