It's illegal in some places to change the locks so a partner can't get in. You're essentially preventing them from accessing their property. Not saying it's good or bad. It's just worth checking.

"5 morons on Twitter misconstrued what Henry said almost 5 years ago" doesn't have the same ring to it though

That's not bullshit at all. Them knowing isn't the same as a man knowing. Or even them being able to articulate it or it being consistent across interactions. It usually comes down to girls wanting to have sex with a guy they're attracted to without feeling like a slut. That's where I think the blurring comes in. They can't be too keen so they want a guy to push a little bit. But they want the right guy to push. If the wrong guy pushes or the right guy pushes too much they feel unsafe. Which lea…

Woh, chill out. I didn't disagree with you. Not everything is an argument. What is stupid about the comparison? - Most people don't like ironing. An iron would be a most likely be a bad present. - Some mothers like baking. A bread maker may be a good present. - Some fathers like building stuff with wood, a lathe may be a good present. I'm glad they enjoyed the gifts. Something built personally for someone will usually be more cherished way more than something purchased.

I haven't really heard many mums say 'I have this really exciting ironing project either' ironing is just a chore. Maybe if a mum was really into baking, then getting her a bread maker or some other bread shit might be the same as getting a dad who's into woodworking a new lathe or something.

When I was younger I'd get left in the car all the time. If you leave a kid in a car now, people would smash the window or call the cops. Just because kids have been abused since forever, doesn't mean it's right.

Being one of the main catalyst to the cold war wasn't enough?
/r/MensRights02/01/22 02:20 AM

Oh come on. Anyone that joins the Army knows that going to war is a very distinct possibility. If you don't want to go to war (or at least be ok with it) then you shouldn't join.
/r/MensRights15/02/21 02:24 AM

Well that's reality, not sure what to tell you. The outcome has no bearing on the choice whatsoever.
/r/MensRights14/02/21 10:33 PM

I see what you're saying. The choice was made when they signed up though. They probably didn't understand the gravity of that decision. I know I didn't. I'm just lucky that it was mostly positive for me
/r/MensRights14/02/21 08:03 PM

When I first joined they said multiple times that if you aren't ok with violence, don't join. It was made abundantly clear that you might fuck someone up, get fucked up, or see a friend get fucked up. Out of I think 8 people, 1 was a girl. She cried and didn't end up joining. Probably for the best. The Army exists to carry out violence on the government's behalf. Politicians make the decision on how violence is carried out. If people don't get that I don't know what to tell them.
/r/MensRights14/02/21 06:17 PM

9/11 happened when I was just finishing high school. I joined (Australian Army) for the same reason. I think there's 2 realities people really struggle with when it comes to the Army. The Army is the hammer in the government's tool box. They exist to exert the will of that government through violence or the threat of violence. The Army gives a fuck about one thing and one thing only. That's "capability" which could be expanded to fighting capability, but it's always just said as "capability". It…

Is your arguement against war or a standing professional Army? Or that politicans use soldiers for their own political? Unless someone is conscripted, they join by choice. The last time Western conscripts fought a war was Vietnam. The soldiers that went to Iraq / Afghan (myself included) made a choice. Sure they made the choices for different reasons, you could even argue that some were conned... but the choice was theirs.

I get what you're saying is likely in jest, but from a practical stand point, you'd end up with completely fucked skin if you did that. You end up with the worst acne after a week of that stuff.

I've been to 52 different countries. Australia isn't this dystopian matriarchy like you're making out.
/r/MensRights17/11/20 10:44 PM
1

Yet it's still one of the best countries to live in the world. I think people make it out to be way worse than it actually is. This 5k for one gender is not ok. But that's one policy that affects a small percentage of people in one state of Australia. If you don't get worked up by the bullshit in the news, things are pretty sweet here whether you're male or female.

There's a real warping of reality there.
/r/MensRights05/09/20 11:08 PM

Apart from being completely reprehensible it's a pretty dangerous way to make money / earn a promotion. Not that I would ever advocate violence, but it I think it would be extremely likely that she would just piss the wrong person off one day.
/r/MensRights05/09/20 11:05 PM

Maybe technically but rarely in practice. This would make like 90% of the male population rapists. The posters / adds etc have definitely gotten whackier over the years. I saw a white ribbon ad that said looking through a partners phone was domestic violence... Not abuse, violence. I think the person that made that ad has probably never been a victim of actual violence to draw that kind of non reality based equivalent.

I'm a better person when I wake up at 0430. If I've already been to the gym, cleaned my apartment, wrote down what I want to achieve during the day and meditated before I leave for work, my day is much easier and I'm way more effective. It's like I have the jump on the world. On the flip side, if I wake up late I'm rushing to work, progressively getting more and more stressed by events that pop up and it feels like I'm getting ambushed by the day. I say to myself I'm going to go to the gym when …

The possessiveness of the kitchen is an issue she just needs to get over. Or eat cereal or toast in the morning. I'm not a morning person either. My default sleeping pattern is nocturnal. But I've also gotten up at 0430 and left the house to go to the gym by 0445 as well. I'm pretty sluggish for the first 15 minutes of gym, but by the end of it I'm fine.

That's not what I'm referring to. I'm referring to a club with a high male to female ratio. They put a price control on male entry. Some males would be dissuaded to going to that club by the high prices, some will still go. The end result is a more evenly distributed male to female ratio. You can say it's unfair and I'd agree with you, but the price control is doing its job.

Might seem like semantics but it's not falsifying a document if the state makes an amendment, whether you or I agree with it or not. My Mother is adopted, her birth certificate has her adopted parents as the birth parents. It's done to protect the birth parents more than anything. No one has a legal right to that information except for my Mum (I've tried), when she dies I inherit that right as the eldest child.

I think a lot of people don't really understand economics, hence the distress. People are saying they wouldn't go to that club because it's too expensive / unfair. That's price controls doing their job.

Blame is proably a strong word, maybe 'prioritised other things' fits better. Yeah some guys from Inf had a pretty bad attitude. A friend of mine had only been back from Band Aceh for a few months before he went to Iraq. A few of Inf guys kept on about the whole POG thing (he was a Sig) and generally giving him and the others a a hard time. True, you could have been extremely unlucky. I'd say a decent portion of people who only have the ADM are at least partly to blame. Be it getting posted to say Sydney instead of Darwin or being in a job that never gets deployed. My count is - AASM, ASM, Interfet, Timor Solidarity Medal, ADM, Paramatta. Not from one trip, but you could have that many from two trips to Timor. I guess you could techincally get an AOSM as well but not sure if we are even there still. I got four gongs on my first tri…

Cause deploying can be hard and suck no matter what Corps you're in. Even if they are clerks, they are still on bases that can get rocketed and even ground attacked etc. If they aren't deployable they can't be in the Army.
/r/MensRights24/06/19 12:48 AM

Yeah but who cares about an ADM though? An ADM by itself looks worse than no medals at all on ANZAC day. The only thing that looks worse is an ADM and a Paramatta badge combo. In terms of medals being easier to get now... I don't know about that. You could potentially have 6 or 7 medals only having gone to Timor back in the day.

It depends who you talk to, White ribbon has tried to muddy the waters on that. They had a Facebook post that said reading your partner's emails or messages is a form of violence. To me that's bonkers, I agree with your opinion.
/r/MensRights17/02/19 10:41 PM

I'm actually qualified to answer as I got circumcised when I was 22. So I've had sex with a foreskin and without. Masturbation is a lot better with a foreskin, sex is probably slightly better without. My partner that was with me before and after said it felt better. That being said, I believe if people want to get it done, they should get it done when their adults. The decision shouldn't be made for them.

No, maybe I didn't explain what I meant properly. Why is GCHQ running the course, what's in it for them? Organisations like this do things for a reason.
/r/MensRights18/01/19 08:10 AM
1

I'm not stretching it, I'm just saying it's not necessarily men being fucked over. It's more likely to be be driven by capability.
/r/MensRights18/01/19 08:07 AM
1

That information still has to be analysed. Catfishing isn't always just a bot trying to scam a guy. It can be much more elaborate than that. What do you think the course is actually for them?
/r/MensRights17/01/19 10:51 PM
1

Yes I'm aware of what catfishing is. Just take a step back for a second and think about what the GCHQs job is. It's very likely these courses are a way of picking out future candidates for employment.
/r/MensRights17/01/19 10:46 PM

I think it would be more driven by capability seeing it's about defence.
/r/MensRights17/01/19 10:04 PM

As in it wouldn't be part of the course or that it wouldn't be a way of gathering SIGINT?
/r/MensRights17/01/19 08:39 PM

There's a lot to security though. There are things you'd want an actual feamle for.
/r/MensRights17/01/19 07:25 PM
-1

It's not a normal course and it's not a normal job they are trying to recruit into. One of the reasons they would want women is it would be easier for an actual female to catfish someone in order to gain intel than have a male pretend to be a female while catfishing. They are probably better at picking peculiarities of intercepted messages originating from females. There's probably 50 other reasons that we don't know as we aren't really from that world.
/r/MensRights17/01/19 07:23 PM

The thing is, I've seen this a lot lately. People trawl through someone's Twitter history and find some tweet from years ago, post it without context and attack the person. They basically capture a part of an open conversation between people and frame it as if it's a public statement they've made. Look for all I know she could be a complete cunt and actually believe this. I can't deduce that from this isolated tweet though.

Turns into a negative feedback loop before you know it. To take it one step further, the algorithms used on social media do this before we even get a chance to curate it ourselves. I've noticed this with some of the shit that's being suggested on YouTube for me lately. It's all right wing stuff. I'm left leaning on almost everything. I'm lucky that I'm fairly introspective and can think critically so I can see it happening some of the time. It feels quite subtle sometimes.

Yeah for sure. The PESA is a lot more relevant. A short run, push ups and sit ups doesn't prove much, definitely not combat effectiveness. There are gendered issues that could potentially put people in danger, push ups aren't one of them. They had an independent review on sexism within the ADF. It was done by a feminist who did not grasp the concept of violence. She said the ADF needed to lose its warrior culture haha. Not sure what she thinks the ADF is for. Hugs and photos I guess.

Nah, entry test for Australian Army is much lower. It tests to see if you're ready for recruit training. There's another test during recruit training to see if you're ready for IETs - Initial Employment Training (where you learn your trade). The regular fitness test needs to be completed before you go to an actual unit.

When was that ? Entry fitness requirements are lower than the regular fitness test.

When does anyone ever use pronouns in normal conversation anyway? Only really happens when you're talking about someone in the third person, if that's the case they're (zhey're? Haha) not their anyway.

Wouldn't even come into it. Multiple witnesses, video footage. Victim isn't needed to prove that it happened. Maybe for sentencing via an impact statement.

I think we're I live it's the extreme end of the spectrum due to negative gearing / foreign investment. The average house price used to be 3 times the annual wage. Today, it's more than 12 times.

True... And in Australia negative gearing.

My Grandpa raised 3 kids on a single income (near Sydney, Australia). It was enough to pay off a modest home, go on interstate holidays once a year and keep everyone well fed / clothed etc. Women faught for their right to work, have equal pay etc which of course was the right thing to do... But now look what we have. There is no way you can raise kids on a single income and pay off anything other than a tent. That same family today, Mum would have to work as well. She would have to work full tim…

I know in Australia, you can't press charges. You can choose not to make a statement, but at the end of the day, crimes aren't committed against people they're commited against the crown (it's why you see R (Regina) vs Defendant).

Trial by media got her in the end. Which is so much worse than a small sentence or good behaviour bond.

I've been in a similar situation with my ex. You can't really do anything. You can't drop them, you can't reason with them. You can hold their hands and try not to get hit. You can run and block... That's pretty much it.

Imagine the male version of her. Scraggy red hear, beady eyes sat behind coke bottle glasses, bit pudgy. Textbook pedo (in the media's eyes) imagine the sentence that would come crashing down on this monster.

Well in Australia, you don't commit a crime against the victim, you commit a crime against the crown. I'm guessing Irish laws are based off English laws like ours.

First paragraph "Magistrate Greg Robinson said domestic violence was a serious issue and violence between partners, irrespective of gender, would not be tolerated." Last Paragraph "She was convicted and placed on a six-month community corrections order to undergo anger management treatment." So female on male violence won't be tolerated... it just won't be taken as seriously or punished the same.

I don't know if that's scientifically correct, but in my experience the scorn of my Mother was much worse than my Father. If my Dad was pissed at me he just used to give me a whack. If my Mum was pissed at me she would seethe and plot and give the OK to my Step Dad.

My ex used to flog the fuck out of me. She was a size 8, couldn't bring myself to hit a girl cause I used to watch my Mum cop a flogging (one day I tried to stick up for her, got punched in the mouth then kicked out of home) and I'm just not wired that way. One New Years she jumped on top of me and slapped the absolute shit out of me. I did the only thing I knew that was right. Went in a corner, sobbed and held my hands tight to my body and not retaliate.

I had the similar thing happen. A friend posted a tyrade after a terrorist attack in my country. She claimed 78% of all terrorists attacks are by non Muslims. I asked where she got her figures from? Her figures were a flawed (cherry picked time frame, only accounted for attacks on US soil... We live in Australia). I wasn't a dick about it, I just said the figures she had don't really apply to what's just happened. She unfriended me immediately and never spoke to me again.

I think because she's in a position of power the distinction is more blurred. Teachers are in a position of power. They don't need to use physical force. She could very well be a paedophile groomer.

I agree, the whole thing about females in front line roles (at least in my country, Australia) is that sure there are some women out there that could do it. Then how many women actually want to do it? Even with the positive discrimination (fat camp prior to basic and BFF postings only available to women, along with reduced physical standards) what you're left with is a figure that so small that it would be irrelevant. If you could field a whole women only regiment it could work... but I think re…

I had a similar interaction with a girl before. I just didn't reply, no matter what she said. It would have just fed her warped sense of reality. I understand she and the crazy girl in the text message are very tiny fraction of women though. Still, something to be on the look out for.

http://www.danoah.com/2010/09/you-just-broke-your-child.html It's written by a single Dad. I think the author meant it as a 'to other Dads from a Dad' type thing. I mean sure he could have used gender neutral language, but I think he was trying to reach out to other people in his position.

As soon as I started reading it, I couldn't help but feel the author read a different article to me, or they missed the meaning over the original article altogether. The comment section down the bottom was just really sad. All the uninformed comments got so many likes. The ones that were pretty well thought out were right down the bottom.

You wouldn't think that if you saw the adds, I think its great that they are finally shining a light on male issues. It's a bit tongue in cheek how they present it. Their message is important even though the delivery is very informal.
