His drive to improve. Be it his career, himself, our relationship, and even me, he is driven to improve everything around him. I love how passionate he is about living a better life, and seeing how much he works to make both of us happy fills me with joy

Love yourself, and realize your self worth doesn't depend on how much other people like you. Don't date someone just because they're nice to you, and don't marry that asshole you met at 18; you'll spend two years in hell and get a divorce before you're 21. The military is going to make your life hard but also give you some great opportunities, so pay attention to the job training and you can use that to make more money. 18 is a big year for you, but also look at the bigger picture. Get started o…

These are all great points to consider, and I will think about it. I understand that it may not be easier to adopt a child, but I feel it's an option that's worth strongly considering as well. I feel that both my partner and I need to grow more as people and get a better understanding of ourselves before any family planning happens. Thank you for your response

I'm Mexican American and he's white, so we're not really big on passing on our generic heritage. While I do love my culture, and he is also proud of where his family comes from, we could pass that on to an adopted child. I'm somewhat okay with having a child when I'm older but I'm also very big on adoption. I was adopted by a family member as a teenager, and that second chance saved my life. I do value family, but I agree that right now I value myself more as I become a more established adult. I…

I really appreciate all of your input, and would like to give you my thoughts you asked for on those points. For background, I came from an abusive family, and as a result that is where many of my thoughts on children come from. With drama, my concern is that a child/children are developing people and are very wild to deal with sometimes. I was a little monster, and so was my partner, though we both came from abusive families so that may be why. We agree that we only want one child, so no siblin…

Do you think it will impact my deciding to not have children as I get older?

I mostly agree with this except the part about the kids being shit to the step dad. My step dad raised me and the two kids he had with my birth mother. Up until he passed, he was an amazing father and I loved him far more than my bio dad. I've met plenty of people in this situation OP described but not all of them are like that

Young marriage just doesn't work in a secular world. I got married at 18 and am now going through a divorce at 20, we were together 1.5 years. People grow up and change, and I honestly think we shouldn't have gotten married despite how much I love him. I wish I I would've waited until we were older before even considering it, now we're only contributing to the divorce rate. Young love doesn't survive, and I think most people are better off waiting until their mid to late twenties

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
