Gaia and Chronos? Civilizations inherit the lore of their predecessors, then change them over time. I'm guessing it spread over from Southern Europe during the medieval era. Even if Christianity took root then, the phrases and idioms would carry over through language.

There are two ways to look at it: "There's no point to life" -- :( "There's no point to life" -- :) In the former case, you require a purpose to see to the end. Without one given to you, the journey is a chore that you want to get over with, because you have nothing. In the latter case, you don't require a purpose; in fact, the lack of one frees you. You can now use your remaining time to pursue what avenue of interest you have, or find a new one. There is a world rich in history and activity yo…

The map itself doesn't seem too bad. Except that mountainous fringe near the southern coast. Mountains are formed from tectonic plates mashing together, I think, so there being just mountains out of nowhere is odd.

Single women slept around more after sexual liberation movement. Those women couldn't raise a child alone and couldn't find anyone to marry. After this happened enough, abortions became more acceptable so that women could sleep around and avoid the consequences on their own terms. Basically, abortion enables bad behavior.

Being unsure about what career you want is normal. My advice is to learn it anyway. Knowing how to code is a valuable skill this day and age. You won't necessarily get an IT career afterwards, and that's OK-- you'll end up applying the skills you picked up one way or another. If you got an idea about what else to pursue, then plan your time to learn it. But I think it's also important to tell you that whatever you job might have in the end, you may not enjoy it. That's the reality for a lot of p…

I'm not one for conspiracy theories and whatnot. I do think that a political system leans towards corruption when people in power don't have to change seats. Because if you're in a spot for a long time, you can build a power base to either your own self-interest or those of your sponsors. So when Trump said "drain the swamp," I thought it was quite a credible thing to say. And his opponent was none other than a woman who would be in the "swamp." Former First Lady, long-time politician, with many…

It means that when you’ve lost your wife of twenty years and children in divorce, your dream job, finances and assets, and circle of friends, you still have the self-drive to make your remaining time a good experience. The central importance is that irregardless of your existing social connections, you still retain your sense of self. Humans are social creatures, but that should not mean you cannot function without others. Moreover, it means that your sense of self shouldn’t be so malleable that…

People here said it. Men want sex. Women want resources. Give both sex robots and now men want for nothing from women. Friends and dogs make better companions, and children can be taken away. Actual dynamics can get more complex, but that’s the gist of it.

I thought white dresses meant “virgin” as well, but, according to Wikipedia, that’s blue. White was traditionally “the color of mourning for French Queens.” Wedding dresses used to be any color, but changed to white after Queen Victoria’s wedding in 1840. The more you know... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hmm. Might be a skill level thing. Between a 6/X/X St. George and a 6/6/6 Anderson you should be getting solid support. A X/X/10 Siegfried would do wonders as well.

My mom’s Asian traditional: works hard, frugal, encourages family communication, personal health, etc. Is she AWALT? Who knows. She’s not a perfect mother, but that’s fine; I’m not a perfect son. She’s not the brightest woman, which annoys my father sometimes, but they seem to have a decent relationship. I think there can be circumstances where she’d cheat, but she’s in her fifties, isn’t a looker (basically an Asian auntie), and doesn’t go out much. Time’s past. As for my sister, well... she ha…

I’ve no advice for depression or low self-esteem, sorry. As for web development, figure out what the jobs are like around your area first. Even if you learn, most places will interview you like college professors do. For the most part, unless you can “wow” them, they’ll pass on you. At least, that’s my impression thus far. Ironically, they’ll take you and pay big if you’re a senior but won’t help you become one. As someone who’s also 24, I can tell you there’s a LOT of time left for us, so don’t…

I don't mean to be cold or dismissive of your childhood, but I don't have any solid advice for dealing with a horrible parent. From an outsider's perspective, I'd suggest cutting her out of your life; traditional Chinese family values (filial piety) emphasize a contractual exchange between parent and child -- the parents raises the child to the best of their ability so the child can repay them as an adult. It's supposed to be forgiving of your parent's flaws because their sacrifices outweigh the…

Well there are a few reasons I don’t care much about death: What’s important about death is not death itself, but the ending of life. “Life is sacred” not because of divine significance, but because it’s the thing that we derive all other things from. To die is to be absent of life, and that’s terrifying. Although it’s terrifying, death is terrifying for a different reason. Fear is traditionally a response for avoiding death and things that lead to death. Being dead means you won’t be alive, so …

For the most part, I don't think anyone gets rewarded for following the rules; we only get punished for breaking them. The way society is built, you need people to do the work that makes society continue. That's why "going against society" is conflated with "ruining your life." For MGTOW, I think it's seeing that following society's expectations does ruin your life, so we find a way to live without breaking the rules AND pursuing our goals. That way society can't oust you, because you did nothin…

Not specific to this post, but this is exactly what I mean when it comes to publicity. Occasionally, a poster here would ask why everyone think MGTOW is dumb/hateful/etc. But its ideas aren't hated; this post expresses many MGTOW-like ideas and everyone seems to agree with it. They agree with it, because the ideas are carefully explained, the language is neutral, and it doesn't set anyone as "bad." Good on this poster, I hope he has a bright future.

It's because the popular idea is that some topics are unequivocally a matter of right-wrong irregardless of context. It's easy to paint MGTOW as "wrong," because most topics (in this subreddit) can be easily framed as "incel," "woman-hating," "woman-obsessed," etc. Men in MGTOW don't attempt any sort of positive representation of their ideas (e.g. reeling in the red-pill rage to make their stories more digestible for a mainstream audience) so a superficial examination of what we write here won't…

Well, the crux of your issue here seems to be that you’re feeling depressed/agonizing over a rejection. I don’t know this person you became infatuated with, but I can say for sure that there exists no one in this world worth sacrificing your happiness for. The mistake the men here will highlight for you is that you put too much value in her. This is a mistake, because this is not reciprocal; you were literally giving away your time/energy to this person for free. And now you’re throwing it away.…

Indentations are all over the place. When you code, your blocks have a “parent” and a “child.” All children need to be indented one more than the parent. If the block has no parent, you don’t indent. The text in the body isn’t properly done. You need to wrap it in tags. The paragraph tag ended too early. Also with the unordered list. Okay, it renders; it’s also bad to do so no one worth their salt will approve of that pull request. The actual thread says the same stuff.

Love exists. It’s just not as permanent as older stories would like you to believe. It grows and wanes. It’s also easy to poison, hence the tone lots of divorced MGTOW take around here.

No. The problem with any mastermind scenario is that bigger plans require tighter control to accomplish. The longer a plan takes to unfold, the more chaos must be considered. You can say this is a plan put into motion for decades, but that also questions motives. As another mentioned, you might be dead before you finish the job. Recent social changes I would instead attribute to unintended consequences. If you look at a topic/movement by itself, you can predict in what ways it will evolve by loo…

If there's going to be a social collapse, it's not going to be because of MGTOW. The way I see it, it'll be a mix of anti-capitalist sentiment driving away the country's wealthy; a social shift to a different normalized culture; and just not enough people being interested in balancing social dynamics. The country might enter a radical phase and collapse in on itself (like Venezuela) or decline slowly as other countries acquire political and financial power. Europe might be a different story. I c…

Generally nothing will happen unless the person you’re talking to is grossly offended. It’s hard to tell what kind of person they are, though, which is why I advised to play it safe. Unfortunately, MGTOW has a bad reputation. It’s fine to say “I do my own thing” and “I don’t trust marriage,” but directly associating yourself to MGTOW will give you with a bad image/“face.” It’s always better to be a blank slate than to be linked with something you can’t control.

You’re Asian, I assume? You should be fine for the most part. I actually work around the place (not for the school itself). It’s close to Chinatown, which has a lot of mainland Chinese. You may see lots of Asian women around due to this; it’s fine to ignore them. For the most part, no one’s going to blow up in your face for being a man on the subway. I don’t know about NYU students, so I’d advise you to be conservative in your relationships and never ever talk about MGTOW ideas unless it’s to ac…

Yep. If there was only one woman left, turning her into a baby factory won’t work, because a woman can’t give birth to more than one child at a time (excluding twins, triplets, etc.). She might have a dozen kids by her death/menopause, which, if half are girls, won’t be enough to restore humanity. The solution is to get her eggs. The woman is useless; her eggs aren’t. Extract the eggs and let the woman do what she wants. Artificially fertilize the eggs, grow the embryos in artificial wombs, harv…

Firstly, while I do think this is a hurt you left yourself vulnerable to, I also do hope you can recover and move on, OP. Some in this subreddit draw validation from examples of MGTOW philosophy being proven correct, but that often means a man was betrayed. That is always a tragedy. I think that, for people like you who are looking for the NAWALT unicorn, you have to be aware that there is no such thing as a soulmate. Graphics are also a nice skill to have, especially if your employer needs UX/UI design for whatever reason. (Though I think you'll need specialized training for that role.) And feel free to take your time with the learning. I've found that copying and modifying code samples given in books really helps in understanding how things work. I hope everything works out for you!

How about coding, then? There are plenty of free resources online for learning. Spend six months or so building up a single project by applying more and more advanced coding concepts. You don't need a certification or to pay anything; that project basically becomes your certificate. If you can show your employer that you understand at least the basic concepts of coding and are willing to learn/not cause friction, then that's a $40k-$60k job as a junior software engineer.

Harder question to answer. If you want to build up a skill, the bare minimum is to invest time in acquiring that skill. Money is usually to reduce the time via an organized service/education. If you don't want to go to uni, do trades. That's blue collar work, but it still pays well. If you don't want to spend money (I'm guess that's what you mean by "wallet raped"), then... well, I can't say there's anything you can do. Even the trades require some apprenticeship arrangement, from what I underst…

24, with a $60k job a year plus two months after graduation. Get educated in a trade or in-demand skill. Udemy isn’t a bad resource for that. Practice on your free time. There’s this “new collar” movement in tech that you can ride after you’re done with uni. Just be sure to work towards it.

The general advice is: don’t go to college if you’re not academically inclined. Go to a trade school. But let’s look at the present. You need to deal with your debt. Interest is the biggest money sink. Never take a loan unless you can pay it off before it accumulates interest. I graduated college with a B.A. in English pre-summer last year. It’s useless; I learned more about writing by writing fanfiction than reading books assigned by my professors. I can write a mean paper, though. I spoke with…

Why are men afraid to face the truth? Because men are afraid of an existence without inherent purpose. If women are no longer fantasized, then the instinct to propagate will become nothing more than the mechanical function of an animal. Without beauty, without greater meaning. Realizing this, man will become disillusioned, and will search for another reason to explain their existence. Some will flourish. Some will grow mad with grief. Some will pretend, forget. And some will disappear, never to …

This picture is a parody of the whole "slut-shaming" thing: Always have someone with you to watch your back. Don't walk alone at night or someone can target you. Stay in busy streets to maximize chances of rescue. Don't drink or you won't be able to fight back. Don't dress like a whore or you'll draw unwanted attention. The safest place is to be at home. Y'know, that last part kinda gets to me: "I'm a virgin, that part of life is hopeless." So? Do you think not being a virgin will make you happier? I can say that there are a lot of married men with children who are unhappy. I can also say there are many women who aren't any more valuable for having fucked a few dozen men. It's not surprising. The prevailing notion of MGTOW in mainstream thought/media is conflated with all sorts of nasty assumptions about the people who subscribe to it. That we're a bunch of horny, obese man-children who sit in their parents' basement in front of a glowing screen, bemoaning how women don't like us. It's an age-old stereotype. I suppose it depends on the context. However, most certainly, allowing yourself to be angry at something that will happen over and over again is a foolish thing. Anger and hatred aren't much different from love in that sense; you concentrate your thoughts on the woman. Thus, either avoid the cause or react differently to it. Your hobbies, talents, investments, and goals deserve your attention more.

I hear physical exercise is a good way to burn out anger and stress. Alternatively, grab a video game and go on a murder spree (in the game). Please be careful. Anger isn't good for your blood pressure. Ideally, you could work towards removing the source, but that's unfeasible without ruining the rest of your life in this case. It's been mentioned in other posts here: learn to not give a shit.
