I appreciate the detailed reply. It's hard not to be suspicious of the 'I study this, therefore you're full of shit' line in regards to pretty much any reddit conversation, given that reddit is full of pretentious college kids trying to parade their 101 level knowledge over others. On the other hand I know how frustrating it is to repeatedly have to type multiple paragraphs just to explain the same shit over and over.

IQ tests are not scientific, but considered pseudoscience I literally study hormones and their affect on the brain Legitimately asking, is there anything you've learned regarding hormones and their effects on the brain that are significantly more predictive than IQ is in regards to behavior? Everything you've said in this debate regarding testosterone is along the lines of 'correlation not causation, sometimes it acts differently, we don't know if it does anything!' Is there any aspect of your f…

Men on average are larger than women. Men are superior. That’s the logic right?

It's always fluctuated dramatically, a 50% loss really isn't that big a swing for it, it'll keep going higher, wait and see.

I dont really get what you're saying is different. I think it's easy to have all these beliefs in your own morality when you're not in a position to choose, but if you feel like you're better than others based on dating preferences and that makes you happy more power to you. I've certainly never lost any sleep over my own dating morality. I think condemning others makes you a bad person, most moral philosophy agrees on that.

I don't mean to offend, but you sound like you don't date a lot. Going on a date isn't some big important thing, but your time is precious, you can and should write people off for any trivial reason you want because it's a numbers game. You're not hurting anyone by not dating them, and you're not doing anyone any favors by dating them, it's not a moral question, it's a taste question. You wouldn't criticize someone's morality for the movies they like would you?

I get what you're suggesting, i just think you're wrong. You can't really judge how well you'll connect with someone from a tinder profile or a short conversation, and even if you could money issues can and do eat away at otherwise healthy relationships like a cancer. Again I'm not saying that's what love is. What you first go on a date with someone for typically isn't what you stay with them or fall in love with them for, but a good basis from the start increases the likelihood of a good basis …

People's financial situations are a huge source of stress and being with someone means sharing everything, including that. Again, money issues are the #1 cause of divorce, money matters. How you want to live your life matters, and money is unfortunately a huge part of that. It's not like I'm advocating leaving someone you love because they overdrafted, there are literally billions of people out there, you don't know them, and you can't date all of them, so you should narrow the field with whatev…

Updated my comment with more detail, but I don't think 'being a decent person' has anything to do with it. If those things matter to you it's far more decent to admit it up front, than to pretend they don't and waste someone's time who isn't going to make you happy.

Lol, I wouldn't say my wife is getting better, we've just agreed to a system where our finances are separate and I take care of almost everything, and she's learned what I'm okay with her asking for vs. what I'm not. Faith in someone's future only really makes sense for younger people in my opinion. It's also a gamble either way that really only factors in if the relationship is getting serious. For casual dating it makes a lot of sense as a hang-up I think. I never cared because I'm generally c…

Sure, but there's a common assumption when people talk about being in debt that it's not for great reasons. 'I have student loans' and 'I have a mortgage' are typically different conversations in a relationship. For what it's worth, my wife is bad with money and had some debt when we married (both student loans and credit cards). We're doing great, but it's taken some stress and some fighting to get to a healthy approach for our finances, which basically consists of me doing all the money shit a…

I don't really get the downvotes either. I think it's just a lot of people who either A) are in lots of debt themselves due to student loans for things less impressive than being a doctor or B) look at dating as something less fun and serious than always trying to find the person to spend the rest of your life with, which is a group I would have considered myself in when I was single.

The same reliable polls that have been wrong about Trump every step of this race from the day Trump declared his candidacy on were wrong one more time? How surprising.

Having healthy relationships and believing there are issues with the culture of women today has about as much to do with one another as 1) dating a black woman and having some issues with black culture, 2) dating an American/brit/whatever and having issues with the American/British/whatever culture. The only way the latter becomes an issue for the former is if the specific person you're with is overly proud of their sex/race/country to the point where they can't acknowledge faults. The vast majo…
