Duly noted. I'll make sure that my next marriage isn't in Texas, just in case...

Any sources to back up that "vast majority of cases" statement? We often take a few anecdotal cases and say that it applies to the "vast majority of" card. Here's an anecdote: my mom remarried another guy and had my half brother with him. They made similar money, they're solidly middle class, he got only 30% custody, but he's only paying $250 a month in child support. That case is in Missouri. Another friend from work. She makes much less than her ex, she has 50% custody for the two kids they ha…

Bro, the USDA estimated that parents can expect to pay between $15,438 and $17,375 a year raising a child in 2022. According to a new Brookings Institution analysis of data from the U.S. Agriculture Department, it's $17,000 a year. That's roughly $1,400 a year. They estimate that it could be up to 27% more per year in an urban environment. So, while some fathers with larger income are paying the high end of your estimates, I think most of us, particularly those with shared custody, are paying le…

I’m going to be on the hook for child support for 17 years. How messed up is that? Ummm... How messed up is it that you have to financially support your children??? Am I understanding this correctly? Because in reality it's cheaper to pay child support than it is to raise the child/children yourself, so I'm not sure why "being on the hook" for 17 years is a bad thing...

I really needed this! Thank you to all the men who contributed to it because I'm in the divorce process now and a lot of these points struck home.

I'm (34M) personally more attracted to women my age. I prefer someone who's more mature and less likely to play games

Male birth control has been a thing for a while now. Problem is that society has pushed the responsibility for both control more on females than on males. Examples of male birth control: https://www.singlecare.com/blog/male-birth-control-options/

This makes sex higher pressure for men, since they have less control over the consequences of sex. Ummm.... or he could just not cum inside, right? 🤔

I'm a non-commissioned officer in the Army, and a liberal, and i take issue with a number of these statements. I also take issue with a lot of the stuff that the Prageru guys say, don't get me wrong. But your outlook on the military as a whole, is unfair and unreasonable. That's true the military is full of discipline, but also full of injury, PTSD and death ! I can say from experience that the military is actually not full of any of discipline nor death. I'm a legacy military child, I actually …

I've never been forced to sleep on the couch or go to a hotel, but my wife has made it clear that if she decides that i need to then i would. She has her methods, her favorite of which is too keep berating me when I'm trying to sleep. I don't sleep until she's placated. She'll nag, yell, bait me by saying the ugliest things, whatever it takes.

You lost any validity or right to call me childish when you basically shit on my telling about the rape of my mom and best friend and your only response is "BuT yOu HaVe No ProOf" fuck off dude

You might want to go back over the thread because I never said always either. I did say "most" accusations weren't taken seriously. I'm careful to not use extremes in my discourses. I've been discussing the issue, which you've actually diverted quite a bit. The OP was about a court case where Kesha could not have the defamation suit against her dropped on account of Dr. Luke now being a "public figure". My original comment on the thread was this article really didn't have anything to do with men…

Nice dodge and deflect 👏 well done at proving my point, buddy.

That's seriously messed up, but using your own logic there also there's no evidence that those things didn't happen. You didn't ask me "what evidence do you have that women's accusations aren't taken seriously?" (which i actually did list a source and statistics as evidence in my other reply to you). You asked "why do you say that they aren't taken seriously?" You're an example of the reason that Men's Rights isn't taken seriously by most of society.

This is seriously blowing my mind that you would ask something like that. My mother was repeatedly raped by her step-dad throughout her youth. She told her mother and her mother called her a liar. My best friend in college got rufied one night at the bar and was raped by the dude who gave her the drug. When she confronted him about it he got his friends to stay harassing and slut-shaming her so she never reported it. Those are two personal anecdotes, and there are millions more or there, but you…

What public executions without a trial? This isn't 1930 dude. There's no such thing as public executions without trial today, unless you're talking about this world countries, in which case you're really reaching. A US Bureau of Justice report showed that only 15 - 35% even report sexual assault to police, and the most cited reason why is because they told someone and weren't believed. It's estimated that due to this and other reasons that only 3% of rapists ever spend a day in prison.

Lol the blowback that I'm getting from this is crazy. Apparently, "men's rights" means believe all men, even when there isn't any evidence for or against them.

Is that a serious question? I'm going to flip this on you because it's a bit ridiculous. What makes you think that all accusations of rape or any other type of sexual harassment have always been taken seriously?

Just because you could get the death penalty for the rape of a women doesn't mean that a woman would be believed if she came forward. The above law was disproportionately used against people of color too. Someone mentioned earlier that many black men were falsely accused, lots of "To kill a mockingbird" scenarios. I'd be interested in seeing how many white men got the death penalty after being accused of rape. I speculate that few women prior to 1977 were believed when they came forward with acc…

I don't equate not getting a conviction to being ignored. I just use the word "ignored" as a broader way of describing how their accusations were not taken seriously or never went far due to the patriarchal nature of our society. I've never said that "lies" about rape have only happened this century. But I think that it was considerably more difficult for women to come forward with accusations prior to to the past couple of decades. And I don't know why you go there with "all those dead black me…

Some of these are decent articles, others i disagree with. Just because I don't immediately reply to you doesn't mean I am sufficiently cowed or have nothing to say. One thing a lot of your sources tend to repeat is that it's difficult to define "false accusations" because in relatively few of the cases is a false accusation defined consistently. Something a lot of your articles don't talk about , particularly the papers written 15+ years ago, is the societal and cultural norms towards people wh…

Well i haven't had the chance to read all the articles, though I'm not opposed to receiving new information. Some of them seem relevant, others i have issues with. It's not like I came here to troll, i just genuinely disagree with the premises. You can still support men's rights and not agree with everything posted on this sub

When you say "What may or may not have happened in the past had no bearing on this case", i hope that you're just as ready to say the same in terms of false accusations. That is to say, if you're going to say that women being denied justice for centuries in this country has no bearing on whether or not Kesha might have actually been raped, then you should be willing to accept that no matter how low the rate of false allegations have been over the last few years, that has no bearing on whether or…

I disagree, actually. If you put it into perspective and look at how most women's claims of sexual violence was ignored until the start of this century, when we talk about accusations of sexual violence, women have only been getting justice for a little under two decades now. If we bemoan that, then it sounds like we aren't for "due process" but rather for letting things go back the way they used to be. Statistically speaking, only 5% of rape allegations are ever found to be false. And estimates…

What does this have to do with men's rights??? There's no real evidence in favor of or against the allegations she's made. It's a he-said-she-said situation, and these kinds of things do happen a lot in the entertainment industry. I reserve judgement, and really, so should everyone else here.

I agree. While I'm sympathetic to a lot of the concerns guys post on here, there also way to much "Wow is me!" and "It's not fair! If it were a woman..." and it's not productive. There was a guy on here the other day crying that there wasn't a Google Doodle for International Men's Day.

I know that I'm on the Men's Rights forum, and while I am usually empathetic to most posts on here, i can't be in this one. As a man, I've never felt the need to have the accomplishments of all men touted, especially since all of world history seems to be centered on men and their accomplishments. If your weak little heart needs recognition, there's several holidays(at least in the US). For being a dad, there's father's day. For being a hard working man, there's Labor Day (here in the U.S., anyw…

Fortunately my job has made it possible for my wife to be a SAHP. That wasn't the plan when we first met, as she was a working woman, but it just ended up happening that way.
