Your chart, male privilege, and feminism have very little to nothing in common. These facts have nothing to do with male privilege. Just because depression is more likely to effect men does not mean that women are "privileged" to not have a higher suicide rate. Also the military has been historically male with a lot of men and women discouraging women in battle. Again, there are simply MORE MEN in the army. There are MORE MEN that kill OTHER MEN (homicide rates), there are MORE MEN who work in i…

this is awesome. thank you for posting this. this argument never made sense to me as a woman. I didn't major in english and writing thinking i would make as much as my male family members who went to school for business and med. if you major in liberal arts, you're gonna make much less than people who major in more in business oriented jobs...it seems like common sense to me.

Could you explain to me how this is "feminist"?

I am a believer in the idea that if you call yourself any sort of anything other than a proponent of human rights, you're immediately excluding yourself from the main conversation. rather than seeing yourself as equal, you see yourself as an outsider who deserves recognition and i think that's the rut we've been in for FOREVER in america. everyone wants equal rights, but only want it if they're recognized as "other" rather than simply "human". men's rights, women's rights, whatever, i'm for it i…

thank you for the recommendation and information. i'm still not convinced that your approach is the best or most sensical. I don't see any sort of effort to unite and forge change. all i see is a war of words between both sides and i think it's bullshit that each side is constantly trying to "educate" the neutral rather than work with the few who can understand why both sides feel as they do.

listen, i agree with you and maybe i'm naive to think that feminism is harmless, but at the end of the day, it doesn't change the fact that approaching the issue in a negative and hateful manner hasn't gotten men's rights anywhere. i'm simply proposing that maybe both parties should discuss things instead of waging war. and yes, obviously, i realize that feminists say "feminists aren't like that.." but men say "men aren't like that" in every single post. the people who are willing to discuss sho…

i can't figure out if you guys keep presenting the extreme version of feminism as the popular definition of feminism or if you don't know any real feminists. i know a lot of feminists though i don't identify as one for many reasons. from what i've learned, none of my feminist friends would agree that what you've listed are the "pillars of feminism." these pillars are extreme, illogical, and misrepresent all women (and men, obviously, but you know already) all together. Most feminists don't belie…

snow has been an accomplice to many crimes since the beginning of time. do you know how many people have tried to con me and people i know by simply digging a ditch in the snow and charging to "help" get the car out?

you can't really convict people for verbal or psychological abuse. in no way do i think that this person shouldn't have custody of her kids...but it's a strange matter all together especially since we're given a tiny fraction of the details of the story.

this is pretty extreme, don't you think? to be fair, most feminists don't feel this way. the language used and the context is obviously written by someone who isn't quite rational or socially/emotionally intelligent. i think if you believe this, then you're already long gone. it hurts me, as a lady, to see that someone is encouraging women to abandon their bodies, desires and needs. it's not even an issue of man-bashing, it's moreso a god damn shame that this person is manipulating women out of …

well it depends on how you feel about the death penalty. the death penalty, in my opinion, is not nearly as harsh as 35 years (which is what they'll both serve anyhow since they're in the late 40's) in prison. It's like putting someone out of their misery. if you value life, no matter how miserable it would be, over death, then sure, the death penalty. but if you value punishment for a crime, then the life in prison should be your go to. the walking dead taught me that.

you guys are always so wrapped up in numbers. 35 years is FOREVER and she's already 47 years old. She'll never be released on parole and she will die in prison. there's no life for her.

I like a lot of what mensrights represents and believes, but i do think some things are taken out of context. i don't identify as feminist because i think feminism is exclusionary, self-perpetuating, and not very well thought out. that being said, i have a lot of problems with how this sub often mistakes deviant human behavior as proof that women are just as capable of horrific acts. It's not a women vs men thing. it's a human thing. PEOPLE ARE CRAZY. the fact that we've gendered genres of crazy…

this is all around depressing. all of those people are probably oppressed in different ways. the coal miners seem to have it particularly bad, but you have NO IDEA what the women are or aren't responsible for. Let's be totally realistic here, all of those people are slaving away for RICH MEN, this isn't a matriarchal society.

ha, this is hilarious! reminds me of the episode of 30 rock with jon hamm. he could get away with anything due to his good looks and had NO IDEA what it was like to be a normal person. Both parties in this post are obviously not very intelligent and quite shallow.

this is a great comment. furthermore, i think it's safe to say that it's a kind gesture no matter what. Personally, I think it's off putting when a man makes it a point to hold the door for me. Especially when their in front of you and they swing the door open like a chauffeur. I like to open doors for my boyfriend and say "After you, madam!" He's been known to blush.

the storyline was secondary to the main case. the women were portrayed as wild and drunk, fueling one another. It reminded me very much of the stories you hear of crazy frat parties where everyone gets drunk and takes advantage of a girl who doesn't know any better. it was pretty difficult to watch.

no huff here. i just think it's peculiar that the notion of women being incapable of violence even exists. it's human nature.

I don't understand how this is relevant. Are you trying to say that women are fucked up too? We all know that people are fucked up, I'm just confused as to why this has been posted. People do horrible things to each other. Women kill their husbands, husbands kill their wives. We don't need to be reminded that not everyone is peachy keen at every turn.

yo there was an episode of Law and Order where a gay man got raped by a bunch of women at a bachelorette party. I'll never forget. Pretty sure it was Zach Morris.

it's not an argument, it's a fact. I think most people are lazy and aren't very introspective. I never said that a parent's job ends, but when it comes down to it, the parents' significance, no matter how hard they try to "change their tactics" is lightyears away from making the necessary impact. I'm for mens rights because I'm for HUMAN rights and I think it's bullshit to continue contaminating and confusing equality with sexism.

it's beyond that. they're not American so it's a huge cultural gap too. Complicated stuff man. Also, I don't want to go to a courthouse. I want to know that wherever we choose to get married, that my parents, and the rest of my very religious family won't frown upon it. It's a respect thing, y'know?

well think of it this way: their traditions are fading and had you had kids with your ex fiance, they wouldn't have bogged them down with religion. all that's left are what they feel obligated to celebrate or implement. instead of saying what's worse, i'd say that's pretty damn lucky.

i have the same problem. my boyfriend and i are not religious but my parents refuse to come to my wedding if its not in a church. Its literally driving a wedge between my parents and him. In turn, we're both afraid to get married not because we're not committed (we live together and consider ourselves married) but because weddings are terrifying.

and you know what kills me? the ridiculous "romantic comedies" or shows like "bridezillas" that are CATERED and MARKETED to women! Yo, if I have to see one more movie where Jennifer Lopez is a wedding planner or a movie like Bridesmaids (which is an awesome and hilarious movie) where the husband is but a mere whisper as the women toil away I will never get married. >:[

This is a really interesting topic. If Owen is transmale, has had top surgery and expects to treated like a man, then I think it's his choice to do what he will with his female parts. I also think it's shady and if he's really committed to a full transition (save for reassignment surgery), than it won't work for long. I have quite a few friends who are transmale and i can't imagine them ever doing something like this. But on the same note, they're all very conscious, intelligent, and self-aware …

Exactly but it's deeper than that. When you become a teenager is when you stop listening to your parents is when you start scrutinizing your body. Teenagers listen to EVERYONE but authority figures in their lives. Oftentimes our peers and the media are the ones who perpetuate the problems. Rarely do we have crazy parents who want us be ashamed of our bodies. Trust me, the problem isn't with parenting. The problem is that our models are prepubescent 13 year old girls who haven't developed yet and…

haha. jesus, i love how this list lists things that women just get pissed off about. it has nothing to do with men, it's more so a list nuisances women have to put up with. I hate that we (women, yes i'm a woman) have to ashamed or bitchy about our bodies. Yes, we give birth and have boobs that will peek through at a water park. There are a million different colored shirts we can wear, why white? Also: it's not illegal for a woman to be president, women don't HAVE to change their last names afte…
