I agree with you but I think its okay to point out someone made bad choices in pursuit of gree man or woman. Because at a certain point thats all it is, someone is infatuated with a good looking person or the idea of a person/partner that they willfully ignore all warnings. And the damage of these bad decisions is not limited to the person that made them. A grim example of that is statistics on stepfather abuse. Tangential example, in my sport there was a coach that was well known for doing bad …

I burst out laughing at the concept of someone going to a DnD meetup to find a girlfriend

Making genuine new friends in your mid 20s onward is a difficult process, once most people start working full time and generally stick to their established groups. This assumes the process is simple and just requires being social, when in fact it's arduous, and full of dead-ends. This is really the main issue with discourse around these subjects, its always dripping with condescension and presumptive accusations that the OP is clearly an ignorant, unlikeable fool doing something wrong, when in r…

That's not that crazy, I do that if they're on the same vibe/wavelength. I actually really enjoy doing it when I think "man youd really get along with this guy"

You nailed why being an organizer/leader/building community is actually a coveted skill. Nobody likes having to manage all the flakes, but in the end its mostly having thick skin and being proactive

would make them "stupid like women", but women are supposed to provide it for them while also being looked down for it. my sides lol this is too accurate

This is hypocritical nonsense, it's because men have lower standards/normally distributed perceptions of attraction and the simple novelty factor. There's no hidden nobility in Arnold capriciously banging his housekeeper. This is supposed to be for unbiased studies of human attraction, not for weepy and emotional justifications exclusively for men.

Is it? Maybe, can't say I've experienced that. Even if this was in good faith as you claim it's just silly to extrapolate your experience like that to question something so clearly and objectively studied.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/26 03:52 AM

Because women will often frame their standards as THE standards, that they are naturally fair and to be expected of men, societally acceptable to be expressed. This is seen in the media and daily conversation, they are referenced innocuously, no one would raise an eyebrow. While men's are often not(in most of the west I'd say, I live in the east now and it can often be the reverse)

Yeah, I think "settling" just naturally has this derogatory, disromantic connotation. But there is actually something romantic imo about acknowledging that there are people more busty, muscular, rich, smarter, taller, etc but you choose this person and are committing to them. Also no one really uses settling in such a negative connotation in other realms of life, ex maybe I wish I was a billionaire ceo artist following my passion but I "settled" for a job that I find fulfilling, meaningful, and/…

Lots of women who get angry when men say they dont want a fat woman or a woman who doesn't split the bill but have a laundry list of demands for men that are statistically very rare and/or contradictory in ideology. Men do this too(I want a pure virgin who is also very open minded and skilled sexually)
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/26 03:35 AM

Sure as I said their standards reflect their values as do mine, so they would find my comment misogynistic, childish, rude etc. I find women who find my comment offensive to not fit my standards for being intellectually honest, candid, thoughtful so I could rule them out to. So that's fine, we should just stop pretending that standards are some objective ruler and not subjective preferences that reflect the values of those holding
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/26 01:52 AM

I kind of agree with you but it depends on what game you're playing. The maximizer/marketplace/max extractive game or if they want love/a strong relationship. You have people on both sides playing maximizer games complaining that they can't find love. Also being a maximizer is fine but people should still be honest about what they're negotiating with, many women and men don't actually understand that at all(they are mid)
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/26 01:45 AM

Either of them should leave or the woman should grow up if they want a more fulfilling life depending on what they want. If they value a capricious life that's fine but they shouldn't complain about men doing the same, not being able to find love/commitment/stability/etc
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/26 01:41 AM

It's about the source of the boredom. If the guy is genuinely putting in no effort and that's why its boring then of course it's understandable for that. But I've seen plenty of cases where despite the man being interesting and dynamic the women has this unilateral expectation that the man is responsible for constantly entertaining her as if their life were a tv show, usually the woman is completely dull and uninspired themselves. At a certain point its just frivolity

Divorce doesn't rip a child's life apart. It just creates more homes and two Christmases. The data on child life outcomes generally show negative results for divorce and single parenthood
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/26 05:32 PM

Standards reflect values If a man/woman has crazy standards they are entitled to them but the world is free to say they are stupid and their values reflect a childish, solipsist view of the world that shows no understanding of skin in the game, statistics, or the mating market

I think this is the narcissistic delusion that trips up a lot of people. Part of the point is that I don't expect my partner to magically not find some super attractive adonis guy attractive, just as I hope she doesnt expect me to think some super attractive baddie attractive, but you chose each other despite that. Theres a sense in that red pill guys who claim that people are completely captured by aesthetics just betray their own values I am not and never will be 6'6, life goes on. Just as my …

Guys busting out their fainting couches here as if men who stick with toxic terrible women just because they are viscerally arousing dont exist

Generally just being sexually attractive, which is sufficient for many men

So much of the problems with discourse around dating and especially women is just treating them as uniquely evil or uniquely innocent instead of rational market actors, just like men. Do men fuck women out of pity? Just childishness

Not really, there are plenty of men who are good at hiding how nasty they are until further into the relationship. Women too

Think there's a maximizers vs satisficers type thing going on, because I've definitely seen it on both sides. Also contrary to what people will say about reluctantly/bitterly settling, in my experience they are more happy and pleasant people in general. Which would make sense for people that don't feel a need to maximize their "deals" on everything(I say this as someone who is like that and essentially does it for a living) I'm starting to feel "settling" is just a bad word for it maybe and has …

I feel like the only time this comes up with friends is when the person in question doesn't really have any redeeming qualities, and in post breakup Convo trying to make them feel better. Like "honestly bro she sucked you could do better" or when talking with friends about girl that's always in drama with douche bf "what's the deal there he's not even good looking" Would never really say it about a happy couple that's just distasteful

Its gotten to the point with these discussions where after going back and forth a bit I'll just say, "heres my question before anything further, i'm willing to accept and acknowledge wholeheartedly, that there are many men/women that are predatory, manipulatize, lazy, and pursuing their self interests when it comes to the "marketplace" of relationships, dating, and sex. are you willing to admit that there are many men/women that do the same thing? that they also have incentives and can pursue th…

I feel like a lot of times this is a "a thief thinks everyone steals" kind of thing, also shrouded by the fact that of course nobody would tell their partner, "yes that person is richer, has better tits, bigger dick" etc thing, when the reality is like you said, a simple "but I am." It shouldn't really need explanation, because its something people who understand the value of commitment understand intrinsically: if you're always looking for the next "better" thing, the relationship instantly los…
