She actually said her "two best friends have been raped," and, later: "so many people who are close to me have been raped." There's probably no way of knowing how many of these "rapes" actually happened (she's from some really bad neighborhood, perhaps?), and further still, how many even got past the "I was raped!" stage and were reported to the police (wouldn't surprise me if the answer was "none").

The foreskin is normally tightly fused to the glans during infancy. ("Ballooning" is even common during urination.) Unless his foreskin inhibits his ability to urinate, surgery is completely unnecessary; in the vast majority of cases his foreskin will become retractable on its own. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1949079/ (NSFW)

It is agreed upon among the most prominent Jewish authorities that pain control should not be used; that it should be painful. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brit_milah#Anesthetic

Yeah, I don't either. I was just covering all the bases. Hoping maybe to prompt more information from OP if there was possibly more to the story. I'm absolutely against it if it's completely unnecessary. But -- even though it's probably (and depressingly) more likely -- I don't want to just assume the doctor is simply ignorant. Then I see he posted this in /r/Intactivists: He is just out of diapers, this is his first infection in that area. I guess it turns out the kid's OK, and his doctor's jus…

Yeah. The vast majority of boys never get a UTI, and while a UTI is usually easily curable with antibiotics, reoccurring UTIs are a serious problem and could very well make circumcision necessary.

Does he "need a circumcision" because he has an infection, or because his foreskin is non-retractable? It could be necessary if it's the former, however since he's 2 years old, the latter is likely not an issue (NSFW) as long as he can urinate without pain. You could always ask for more advise here: r/Intactivists The wiki there is also very informative.

I'm sure there are plenty of 4 year old boys who are circumcised and still manage to pee everywhere. I suppose we just tell them to sit down when they take a piss? You think that might work? /s

The boy’s father raised the circumcision issue after his son was three years old, alleging medical problems. Pediatric urologist Dr. Charles W. Flack examined the boy and said the boy was healthy and circumcision wasn’t medically necessary. http://jewishbusinessnews.com/2015/03/02/four-year-old-boys-circumcision-on-hold-as-protesters-continue-pressure-on-doctor/

It's worth noting that the Director of the CDC and the Chair of the AAP's circumcision task force are both Jews.

Is it possible that even heterosexual circumcised men engage in more anal sex than their intact counterparts? Could men with lowered penile sensitivity find anal sex more attractive?

Edit: Posting again because it was automatically deleted the first time. You might want to try to convince her husband. It sounds to me like she's rather set on it, but I doubt they both are. By "easier" I guess she could mean that it would make it easier for him to fit in. Maybe this could help you: Hospital Circumcision Rates by State Or maybe you could share with her this gallery of famous intact men. I guess she could still be under the impression that it's more hygienic that way. Inform her…
