After watching the recommended video ^ and another one by YouTuber CC Marie, I have to say my opinion of Mrs Midwest has definitely changed… she’s no longer someone I will support.

I love the “single forever” mindset, that’s really really good advice here. I have a bad habit of Imagining my whole white picket fence / 3 kids / house in the suburbs with a husband scenario ... somehow delluding myself that THAT will make me happy ?? Sigh I will definitely be adopting this advice , thank you 💜

“Seizing my youth” is exactly what I panic about pretty much on a daily basis ! It’s the most stupid freak out to be having .. but I’m always like omg will I regret acting / living / being this way in future ?? 😩 ridiculous

ohh that’s really reassuring to read!! Thank you ❤️ I guess I always feel like in the 20s you’re in a race to get everything done in life 😩 I get nervous cos I sometimes think I’m not where I need to be x

I’d love 3 to 5 kids ! I’m 23 at the moment , no sign of getting into a serious relationship anytime soon... so I’m doubting the feasibility of this 😔

omg I got a bit teary eyed reading this 🥺 this is so kind of you, thank you for taking the time to write all this. The last two paragraphs really hit home for me .... we were / are VERY different backgrounds. Different lives. If it wasn’t for our jobs we wouldn’t have ever crossed paths. So perhaps that was something he was thinking .... i know I come across as a bit of a ‘product of my environment’ (high maintenance/ rich parents kinda thing). Interesting how stereotypes and stuff can affect ou…

You’re so lovely thank you so much for writing this!!! I guess I felt even worse because we weren’t even technically “dating”. It was this whole colleagues / friendship thing ... a very grey area between professional and casual. I was 18 when I met him (he’s a year older) and the feelings grew over time. I always thought there was some kind of tension and at times there was genuine warmth and care between us. I think that it all ended on a sour note (for me) and I never truly told him how I felt…

Wow thank you very very much for this. I haven’t thought about it like this... you’re so right. I felt so embarrassed that I’d misread signals . It was this whole hot then cold thing. As soon as he got sex ... pretty much stopped trying.

Thank you, this is really amazing advice. Sounds incredibly self-indulgent & selfish to say, but I felt so much disappointment during the pandemic because I haven’t been able to date or go out. I spent most of last year travelling, wallowing in self pity and loathing ... if only I knew what this year would be!! 😩 but as soon as it’s safe to do , I’ll definitely try testing myself with this x x

I agree with you 100% ^ it definitely is about picking your battles depending on the situation ,, I had a similar experience and ultimately my day-to-day peace at work was more important to me than schooling my colleague on social grace & not being a LVM piece of a shit lol

I think most of the time I’m pretty average. I sometimes have really good days ... clear skin, makeup is working, hair is behaving etc... honestly I wouldn’t have a clue where I objectively “rate” look wise I used to make my low self esteem super obvious. Men I’m sure picked up on it .... Now I try very hard to hide my insecurities as I don’t feel it empowers me in any way to others. Also it’s a bit of a mind game for myself to try not to focus on it as much. It’s not my obligation to be pretty …

I literally voted for a political party I don’t agree with ... on the grounds that he was very conservative and I reallyyyy wanted him to like me & see me as his equal during the election . (I was sort of brain washed and at the time didnt mind the party I voted for ... but hindsight is a beautiful thing ... ugh.) extremely embarrassing and of course he didn’t end up “liking” me anyways 😇 so yep now I will always remember (+ be ashamed) contributing my democratic right to vote > to the bullshit …

Thank you so much for this!! I needed to read this. ♥️ My ego has been bruised for a long while because I’d come to the conclusion that I wasn’t good enough for him... he made me feel like I was nothing. I felt very very dumb for falling in “love” with him (or truthfully, the perfect version of him in my mind.) Still trying to re-wire my brain from all this bullshit and stop feeding into the narrative of “he’s just not that into you”. Thank you FDS 🙏

I’m in Sydney and it’s definitely a struggle even here! To be fair, I’m 22 and I’m going to say most “men” around my age might as well mentally be 16 .. sighhh. Not sure if older men are any better but I gotta say the immaturity of the guys I have met has turned me into an incredibly jaded person ahah :( I hope you find some unicorns in Melbourne once you escape QLD!

Sounds weird , but I like having earphones in in public so it looks like I’m on the phone having a conversation... when actually I’m just chatting to myself out loud! I think having a monologue with yourself is actually not a bad thing ... talking to yourself in third person almost. I’m a very expressive person so being able to “talk” in public, doing that in a way that wouldn’t have me perceived as a crazy person haha .. is actually cool & works for me :)

Oh wow, thanks for sharing your story! I’m glad you’re at peace now from your family. Thank you so much for your wisdom - a lot of what you wrote does apply to me. I feel I really do throw myself under a bus for other people .. it’s a bad habit I’m trying break. Become more Confident within myself essentially... I’ll definitely strive to do that xx

Oh my gooosshhh I can relate. First time I did Pilates I was incredibly naive, figured it’d be a slightly more intense version of yoga .... my god. So wrong. Soooooo wrong. I felt pain in muscles I didn’t know I had! It was amazing though I got such an adrenaline kick from it. HAHHA drunk hippo!!! I’m sure the results are speaking for themselves lovely , drunk hippo or not hahah xx

Thank you so much for sharing. I’ve done therapy and found it to be useful — I know there are some things in my life that I’m simply not addressing, I feel therapy would help release it in a healthy way .. Definitely something I’ll be looking back into .. X

aw that actually is so so comforting to read! I’ve been more or less torturing myself about it all for months wishing I could’ve done things differently ... glad to hear there’s a ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ so to speak haha. I did learn some valuable lessons from it all ... hopefully a bit wiser now! Thank you so much xx ♥️

I’m the same!! Night prep is the way to go. I do everything in slow motion in the mornings so it’s very important I do as much as I can the night before ... otherwise future me suffers 😅

I’m so sorry that happened to you - he sounds incredibly rude to react that way, not to mention immature, so I would say you’ve dodged a bullet there. As others have mentioned, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Everything is subjective - everyone has opinions - and most of them differ from the next person. It’s totally understandable you feel bruised but it is not a reflection of you at all. Someone’s opinion does not define you lovely x

I use a combination of Body Barre (think ballet Pilates), yoga and a lot of incidental cardio (stairs , walking a lot.) I do at home exercises sometimes using a dumbbell and my yoga mat ... I’ve hit a bit of a plateau now though, so definitely looking into adding strength training into my routine :) to tone up more. I also follow a keto diet, which is low carb . I’ve cut out all fizzy drinks (coffee is my absolute vice tho, I can’t get rid of it!) and try to keep ‘naughty food’ at a minimum.

Hi lovely! Yes of course , so happy to discuss it :) I’m a bit younger than you - I’m 22. I personally haven’t done a chemical peel, only facials every 6 months or so. I’ve heard mixed reviews about them ... I would probably go get a consultation before committing to that for sure :) As for lashes, I somewhat regret doing eyelash extensions ... I already have long thick eyelashes , of course they add a “wow” factor but it definitely wasn’t a necessity for me. Have you heard of a lash lift? They’…

I personally have invested in Invisalign for my teeth, laser hair removal, hair extensions, acrylic nails, joined a BalletBarre gym, eyelash extensions + good makeup and skincare. It all seems very extensive when I type it out - but I feel more confident and put together because of it all. Definitely not for everyone - I’ve unfortunately always suffered low self esteem and all of this has made me a lot kinder to myself. I don’t think you can really put a price on your self confidence, if you hav…

Aaa im in a similar boat - totally understand! but I truly think it will cause you more harm than good; mentally, emotionally ... I thought I’d be okay with casual sex with “no feelings”. turns out I was completely rubbish with that concept and spent months feeling sorry for myself & not good enough. :( it was no one’s fault but my own - I hadn’t accepted my stance on it and basically thought I could be someone I wasn’t. Anyways ,, I would highly recommend investing in some amazing sex toys inst…

It’s summer where I live , so I absolutely love colourful sundresses :) i like to enhance my favourite areas of myself (neck , chest) and really highlight my best features. Maxi dresses in particular look good on most shapes & sizes as it’s mainly about the fit / sleeves etc that can make it work for your body type. I think feminine dressing is the “full package”. Hair and makeup done, maybe a bit of jewellery - just looking very well put together essentially. Being well groomed shows you take p…

of course hun! My strategy was doing a bit of an overhaul to my appearance which I think helped me embrace a totally new demeanour of sorts (for the better!) . I started dressing more feminine (I’ve always suppressed my “girly girl” traits, but now I’m totally embracing sundresses (Australia is sweltering at the moment so I’m loving those!), taking more pride in my appearance by being well groomed, put together etc). So this made my confidence grow & now I enjoy feeling that I am making strides …

I’m 21 too (almost 22!) I 100% understand the ‘ticking bomb’ feeling - even though at 21 we really shouldn’t be so worried. I have similar dreams to you so I absolutely see where you’re coming from. Though I’m not in college, I live in Sydney and work in an office (ugh!), but I would assume there must be specific college groups you could potentially join to widen your social circle ? Conservative politics group perhaps or something along those lines? Though I have no experience with the college …

Sorry I wasn’t super clear there ! My question was more aimed at your own experience there & what you did. :) As I’m not 100% sure of what kind of partner I’m after.... but thinking about it I’m probably more along being a trophy wife and eventually a stay-at-home mom. I live in a urban city and want to continue to work in the corporate sector, this is where I’m likely to meet someone I would imagine. At the moment I do dress very feminine for my day-to-day, polished business look with a bit of …

I totally emphasise with you ! I was in a very similar position last year. I live in Sydney - & I found when I moved to a different neighbourhood / part of the city that the people were COMPLETELY different to those who I had grown up around. It was like a whole new world - more options and diversity. I’m still looking for the right person ...but I do feel like the dating pool expanded for me. So , geographically speaking - would moving be an option for you? Your location seems to be one of the …

Welcome lovely 💕 I was introduced to RPW not too long ago also. I was directed to the ‘about’ section (sidebar / wiki) which has a lot of useful information regarding the concepts and ideologies of this subreddit. I’m the same! Making the effort to look good for just myself makes a real difference to my mood (& productivity!) I got to get into meal planning ... currently I do a mixture of intermittent fasting + snacking. I’m wanting to establish a better relationship with food in 2019. I’ll have to try out some new recipes as well. Eeehkkk... it feels so hopeless sometimes! Men my age seem to be after just one thing and it feels really disheartening...
