It's not that I object to Valentine's Day itself. I have no problem with me and my girlfriend buying each other gifts. What I was thinking was that a strike could be used to draw attention to men's issues and show that we can stand up. It's also not something which I would intend as a personal attack on women. It would simply a way of making a statement in a way that would be heard.

Thanks for the link. That's pretty horrifying.

If you don't mind my asking, why do you feel the need to "woo" your girlfriend?

I think there's enough men who are tired of taking bullshit from women who would be inspired by us taking a stand. The ones who really think they benefit from crawling at women's feet and begging for sex can go ahead and continue to be part of the system. But this is a way of saying to men who still have some semblance of self-esteem that they can stand up.

That's why I would suggest talking with her before going on strike, so she knows it's nothing personal. And I just think this would be a good idea because it would be a very loud, very angry way of calling attention to our issues, and the fact that female entitlement needs to be discarded.

Even if we do take the position that it was not rape, then it still sounds like the woman acted unethically in this case.

No. Don't take it down. It's exactly this sort of stuff that needs to be talked about.

Yeah, that's rough. I hope things work out for you, and that you get the support you need. Also good to see you standing up to these bastards who think you wanted it just because you're a man.

He didn't state that he consented, though. Only that he had some responsibility for the situation for getting drunk. It's possible that he got drunk to the point that he was incapable of fighting back, and this allowed his attacker to jump him. Or, as typhonblue suggests, he may have genuinely been drunk to the point that he was not capable of understanding what was going on.

It sounds like this comic was written by some guy who realizes on some level that the way men are currently treated is wrong (Specifically, the whole "wanting sex means you're a misogynist" thing), but hasn't yet broken free from this idea that men ALWAYS want sex, and if a man says no, it's just because he's a pussy.

Yeah, that's pretty silly. I'd forget about it -- a bunch of hyper-sensitive damsels plus a few white knights.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
