Right. The only “ladies only” bars I know of are for lesbians.

I grew up broke but from a proud family. We didn’t accept handouts and I was raised not to let men pay for you so they can’t say you “owe” them anything. Aside from that, we never really discussed money. How you’re raised has so much to do with your mentality and comfortability with finances in all aspects.

My friends mom had a perfectly healthy “change of life” baby (unplanned and unexpected) in her 50s. My mom had a disabled child at 22. Fertility is a crapshoot.

Yes. I think you can do it on android as well. https://www.imore.com/how-use-text-shortcuts-iphone-and-ipad

I also recently set up a text shortcut requesting help to send to a friend that reads “Something has gone wrong. I am at the address and/or with the person I sent you earlier. Please call the police immediately. This is an automated message I prewrote and created a shortcut for. I am sending this because I need help.” All I have to type in is a short 3 digit code and it changes to this message.

I will not date military or police. No one who has been trained to kill at the slightest provocation. This poor woman proves what happens when these types of men don’t get their way. I feel so badly for her family but am thankful they kept pressing for an investigation otherwise this would have just been swept under the rug.

I have scoliosis and would have been offended if I was given a back brace as a gift! Medical devices are not gifts. Neither are cleaning supplies nor exercise equipment.

Yes! I had to cut off a friend who only wanted to talk when she had something to brag about. I’d never get responses to “hey how’s it going?” And she could never ask about my life but you better believe I’d hear all the details about her upcoming vacations and how much her engagement ring was appraised for. And honestly her fiancé was a great guy who encouraged her to go out and have fun with her friends but she was so wrapped up in him she refused. I’d ask if she wanted to go to a concert and s…

Yes! They tend to slide on hardwood or tile so I use a door mat for added traction. You can also find them at Home Depot or Lowe’s. https://www.amazon.com/Master-Lock-Security-Adjustable-White/dp/B0002YUX8I

I always lock the doors and I have these “sticks” that go under the doorknob so you can’t break in (or at least it will be harder). Some friends think I’m paranoid but we have to stay safe!

I judge to some degree, usually with people on tv more so than real life. You can wear whatever you want but if your outfit is obviously mismatched or ill fitting, I’m going to think to myself “your friends let you go out in public like that?!”

I didn’t see that post but a different one where OP was bashing a guy she was seeing who admitted to having sex with a teenager when he was a grown man but she was targeting this poor manipulated girl also. I commented that it wasn’t very HV of her to refer to this child as “white trash” and received a vitriolic response about never commenting to her again and I must be some kind of peodphile enabler. It was pretty disappointing to see.

Also nepotism. Some family member or family friend will give the man a low value job with higher pay than he deserves. Women rarely, if ever, are offered those opportunities.

This seems to be why some of my best friends and I stay single. Men say they want an ambitious woman but eventually they want you in the kitchen and not on a business trip.

Almost pickmeisha story. We broke up, he got fired the morning my moving company was scheduled. Tears in his eyes asked me if I really had to move out. Not gonna lie and say I didn’t think about it, but YES!

Unrelated but when I was in high school one of the neighborhood guys told all of us his name was Fred. It wasn’t until graduation that we learned his name wasn’t Fred. No idea why he did that AND ran with it for 4 years.

This is a big part of the problem. It’s ingrained from such an early age that boys teasing/being mean to you is a way to show they like you. It’s not ok to pull my hair. It’s not ok to make fun of me. It’s not ok to snap my bra strap. It’s not ok to tell a child she sexy, or whatever other term you apply. It’s abusive and degrading!

New neighbor had a housewarming party over the weekend. He introduces me to his girlfriend who is busy in the kitchen. As we’re all talking I make an effort to speak to her more since I figure I’ll rarely (if ever) see the other guests again. I ask how long they have been dating. 2 weeks. I think my jaw dropped! You are chopping vegetables and playing hostess for a grown man you’ve been dating for TWO WEEKS. oh baby, no.....

I don’t either but I went on one (bad) date with a regular from my favorite bar. Now I occasionally still have to see the fool and act like it’s not awkward.

What’s “best for you” isn’t always necessarily money. You mentioned several times that atmosphere and life/work balance is important, as long as you’re making a comfortable wage then go there. I suppose I’m biased as someone who gave up the three hour commute for a 10 minute drive and it was the best thing for me. Additionally, it’s always easier to find a new job when you already have one. Plenty of time to finish your education and make career advancements. Good luck!

I thought the book was better, I usually prefer the book version over the movies so take it with a grain of salt.

I suppose it depends on what you ultimately want out of life. I’ve decided marriage and children are not for me, so I’ve essentially given up on “dating” as well. There’s no real point. I value this community and what I’ve learned about whom to choose to spend my time with, but I won’t date seriously.

Yes! And please don’t tell me you own a boat within 5 minutes of meeting me. All it tells me is you have zero personality.

I will say once upon a time, I had broken my arm and it was in a cast, meanwhile I had just started dating this man. I went to finish getting ready and when I came out, he was washing my dishes. They were piled up because I physically couldn’t do it. I was so appreciative he saw something that needed to be done, and just did it!

And after all the times you’ve told him to shape up or ship out, you finally leave and he runs around telling people you must have been cheating! Why else would you leave such a perfect, thoughtful Adonis?!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
