What we are all aiming for (X-post from TrollXChromosomes)I read your first comment, that's why I commented here. But this reply makes more sense, I get what you're saying now. I agree there does seem to be a double standard in that sense. | /r/MensRights | 07/08/15 01:11 AM
What we are all aiming for (X-post from TrollXChromosomes)Lol I'm the opposite - every guy I've ever dated I've actively pursued and made the first moves with. Apparently it's because my intelligence is intimidating (not trying to toot my own horn, but that's what my bf said to me) | /r/MensRights | 07/08/15 12:58 AM
What we are all aiming for (X-post from TrollXChromosomes)Toxic femininity was created by the patriarchy though /s | /r/MensRights | 07/08/15 12:55 AM
What we are all aiming for (X-post from TrollXChromosomes)To say what you're saying - how are you qualified to make your own assessment? Since we're all using anecdotes here - I believe in the rights of all, I'm not sexist, and I constantly question my opinions and views on social justice issues (which is why I'm in this thread, actually), and all of my friends who identify as feminists are as well. | /r/MensRights | 07/08/15 12:49 AM
What we are all aiming for (X-post from TrollXChromosomes)I thought it was because the opposite has been traditionally seen as 'okay' - e.g. men are allowed to have lots of sex and are heralded as 'studs' etc for it, whereas girls get insults like 'slut' 'whore' etc. So in society men already get the okay for that viewpoint, whereas women don't. I don't like a lot of PUA stuff because it comes across as very controlling/offensive/cruel (e.g. negging). But then my exposure to a lot of PUA related stuff is through TRP, which really is just misogyny centr… | /r/MensRights | 07/08/15 12:44 AM
What we are all aiming for (X-post from TrollXChromosomes)Uggh can I just mention something here, total anecdote but it's one in your statistic. Talking to some friends the other day, and she mentioned that her friend's ex-partner is no longer allowed to see his kids or be near them because, get this, they had a fight (whilst still together) and he grabbed her wrists (which bruised) to stop her attacking him more. But he got the prejudice, yuck. I will never understand anyone who says there's no prejudice against men. | /r/MensRights | 07/08/15 12:39 AM
What we are all aiming for (X-post from TrollXChromosomes)You don't need to say 'as usual'. OP has been nice enough so far. I'm finding this whole discussion thoroughly interesting. | /r/MensRights | 07/08/15 12:36 AM
| -1 | What we are all aiming for (X-post from TrollXChromosomes)This is quite interesting. Do you mind if you could elaborate on your point - "They completely failed to even consider that men are committing suicide due to the immense pressure to actively pursue women (even when we fail miserably)". Is this a link that has actually been established? Secondly, I find the disconnect between men graduating from university and the large number of male academics quite interesting. Are there any hypotheses as to why there's this disconnect? | /r/MensRights | 07/08/15 12:35 AM |
