Of course when putting an ad like that up there is no real issue to anyone with saying "males only" or "females only". If no reason at all was given noone would bat an eyelid, the fact that "kids might be around sometimes" is seen as an okay reason to put as why you don't want men applying however is at best naive and at worst offensive.

Still a shame that they have put in the line "Although research confirms that women are more impacted by domestic violence." ... when most of the points they make actually disagree with this statement. Yes in a straight focus on "who is more likely to "need" to seek medical attention" women do so slightly more often. Well they won't be getting any votes in Scotland it seems, what with there only being 1 Scottish Conservative Seat which isn't marginal enough for them to challenge. I'll be honest I only come here on occasions where I'm feeling particularly curious about current ongoings. Dealing with depression and anxiety issues I know all to well that being confronted with nothing but sad stories can do a lot of damage, making it all the more painful because I have an active interest in current events, politics and the like which is sadly often just as packed with far more bad than good. The funny thing is even the graphics hold up pretty well as a result of most TV shows having little or no budget for such things so if they do use CGI it is usally pretty cheap. Supporting charities that work to reach out to those having trouble, either specifically focusing on men or in a gender neutral sense, is the most obvious thing. Those with campaigns directed at letting people know it is okay to open up to someone, or asking those who are worried about someone to really sid down with that person in a safe environment and let them know they are there to listen and try to help.

To me there is a huge difference between: -Beauty pageants (and it should be noticed that there are male ones too with all the same problems as frmale ones) where often parents push their kids way too far on numerous occasions. -Having a kid act in a SINGLE music video which is a PARODY/SPOOF of "gangsta" videos. If you actually watch the video the kid is on the verge of bursting out laughing at how stupid it all is in pretty much all the close up shots.

I love when words like spoof, parody and satire go totally over peoples heads. Especially those who are actively looking for stuff to be offended by. It reminds me of the "outrage" over Bomani Armah's "Read a Book" animation. Totally great how the kid spends most of the close ups trying not to burst out laughing at how stupid it all is, he almost cracks on a couple of occasions, the out takes must be awesome.

You have to love how it totally ignores Fathers losing Sons, Sons losing Fathers, Brothers losing Brothers...etc. Not to mention that wars can take place in land occupied by people who aren't tied to either side of the fighting, where a percentage of the men aren't automatically "discounted" by being part of the fighting forces and so all the population flee.

I would hope, so very much, that people involved in care work put gender issues aside when it comes to trying to help people with real problems. In saying that though there is a huge stigma to mental health problems as it is then on top of that when it comes to the likes of depression and anxiety really the person suffering needs to talk about the problems.
