I don't think the main reason for it is to make one's dick look better. People often do it based on thinking that it has health benefits (a point that I need to do more research on). My parents did it because of that. Saying that society does it purely to inflict pain on men is taking it a little too far imo. If done in infancy, children won't even remember that it happened.

When I said sexuality I meant their ability to practice sex. I fully understand that circumcision can be considered a bad thing, but I feel like FGM is just worse in most cases, as it affects people's ability to have sex and the pleasure they get from it. When you take someone's clit away and make sex painful for them, I feel like it's almost like you're making them into something you just stick your dick in, reducing their humanity in a way.
